The Garrick S3 Deadbeat Seconds pairs an open-worked display with a central seconds hand that advances in one-second steps. Its manually wound DB-G07 movement, reported 42 mm case and extensive launch-era customization options make it a distinctive—and highly priced—take on the deadbeat seconds complication. Prices and production estimates below are launch reports, not current quotes.
What makes the Garrick S3 Deadbeat Seconds distinctive?
The S3 Deadbeat Seconds brings together two strands of Garrick’s earlier designs: the open-worked character of the S3 Mk2 and the deadbeat seconds complication used in the S2 Deadbeat, according to Fratello and Time+Tide. The result is a watch whose movement is part of the display, while its central seconds hand moves in distinct ticks rather than appearing to sweep continuously.
Fratello describes a German-silver chapter ring, a power-reserve indicator and a large balance bridge positioned at six o’clock. Time+Tide also notes the central seconds display and visible power-reserve ring. The open-worked arrangement exposes much of the mechanism, but Time+Tide observes that the busy layout may make the dial less legible for some readers; that is a subjective design impression, not a measured legibility result.
What is a deadbeat seconds watch?
A deadbeat seconds watch has a seconds hand that advances once per second, like the hand on many quartz watches, instead of moving in a visually continuous sweep. In the S3, the stepping motion is produced mechanically by the movement’s deadbeat mechanism, not by a quartz module, according to WatchPro and Monochrome Watches.

DB-G07 movement and reported specifications
Launch coverage identifies the movement as Garrick’s manually wound DB-G07. The published specifications are consistent across several reports, though they have not been independently verified here against a current manufacturer specification sheet.
| Specification | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Movement | Garrick DB-G07, manual winding (Fratello; WatchPro; Time+Tide; Monochrome Watches) |
| Jewels | 21, as reported by the same launch coverage |
| Frequency | 18,000 vibrations per hour, as reported by the same launch coverage |
| Power reserve | 45 hours, as reported by the same launch coverage |
| Balance | Free-sprung Trinity balance, described by WatchPro and Monochrome Watches |
| Case | 42 mm diameter and 11 mm thick; launch reports list 904L stainless steel or gold |
| Crystal and water resistance | Sapphire crystals front and back; 100 m water resistance, as reported in launch coverage |
| Lug width | 22 mm, as reported by launch sources |
Fratello says Garrick tested and regulated the movement for a daily variance of less than +3 seconds. WatchPro and Monochrome describe the maker’s stated figure as ±3 seconds per day or +3 seconds per day. These are publisher descriptions of the maker’s regulation claim, not independent long-term accuracy tests or a confirmed current guarantee; ask Garrick to clarify the applicable specification for a current order.

Case, finishing and customization
The reported 42 mm diameter gives the watch a substantial presence on paper. Time+Tide flags the size as a possible point of contention for some collectors, but wrist fit is personal; the 11 mm reported thickness and 22 mm lug width are useful measurements to consider alongside diameter.
Launch coverage describes customization choices that include movement-bridge finishing—such as frosted, grained or mirror-polished treatments—wheel colors, chapter-ring infill and different handset styles. Reported strap choices include alligator, calf, buffalo or ostrich leather, with a 22 mm width and pin buckle. These are options described at launch, not confirmation that every choice is available on a current order. Confirm the available configuration, strap and any effect on price with Garrick or the retailer.

Garrick S3 Deadbeat Seconds price and availability
Launch publications reported £40,000 excluding VAT for the 904L steel version. For gold, Fratello and Time+Tide reported £47,500 excluding VAT, while Monochrome reported £47,000 excluding VAT—a £500 discrepancy in launch coverage. These figures should not be treated as current quotations or as tax-inclusive prices.
Fratello reported that the watch was made to order with an approximate 20-month production time. WatchPro and Time+Tide reported annual capacity of three to five pieces; that is a reported production capacity, not an independently confirmed output count. Production timing and availability can change. Contact Garrick or a confirmed authorized retailer for current price, applicable taxes, order terms, customization availability and lead time.

Collective Horology’s product page describes a 65% deposit for its own order process and says customizations may affect price; those are that retailer’s stated terms, not a universal Garrick policy. The page also lists DB-G06 and a 10 mm depth, which differ from the DB-G07 and 11 mm dimensions reported by multiple launch publications. The S3 is most compelling for someone who specifically wants mechanical deadbeat seconds, visible movement architecture and a made-to-order watch with configuration choices. Before committing, consider whether the open-worked dial suits your legibility preferences, how a 42 mm case fits your wrist, and whether the one-second ticking motion appeals more than a conventional sweeping seconds hand. Its reported launch pricing places it firmly in high-end independent-watch territory, while the current cost and wait must be confirmed with the maker or retailer.
