Their main difference is the dial: the STGK011 has a textured silver-colored dial, while the STGK013 pairs a deep purple mother-of-pearl dial with the same steel case, diamonds, and caliber 9S27.
What distinguishes the STGK011 from the STGK013?
| Model | Dial | Shared details |
|---|---|---|
| STGK011 | Silver-colored, with a fine crystalline texture | Two diamond hour markers at 12 o’clock; diamond-set stainless-steel case; automatic caliber 9S27 |
| STGK013 | Deep purple mother-of-pearl, called “Koki-murasaki” in Grand Seiko’s launch coverage | Two diamond hour markers at 12 o’clock; diamond-set stainless-steel case; automatic caliber 9S27 |
The choice is primarily visual: the STGK011’s silver surface has a restrained, textured look; the STGK013’s mother-of-pearl gives the dial a more distinctive purple appearance. Grand Seiko describes that hue as dignified and deep. The official specifications establish no mechanical-performance difference between the two.
How the design and size compare
Grand Seiko announced the pair on September 26, 2019, as women’s automatic watches in its Elegance Collection. The company said they would be available from October through Grand Seiko Boutiques, selected Seiko Boutiques, and other retail partners worldwide. Its launch announcement described them as Elegance Collection watches; the Japanese model pages currently classify them under the Heritage Collection. Those labels reflect different points in the models’ history, not different watches.
The bezel-less, curved case takes design inspiration from the silhouette of Grand Seiko’s 1967 62GS. That is a stated design reference, not a claim that either STGK model is a reissue of the 62GS.

The water-resistance figure is the manufacturer’s specification; it does not establish that a particular pre-owned watch still meets that rating. Have a used watch checked if its condition or service history is uncertain.
Caliber 9S27 and accuracy
Both references use Grand Seiko’s automatic caliber 9S27, which can also be wound by hand. The manufacturer lists 28,800 vibrations per hour (eight beats per second), 35 jewels, and approximately 50 hours of power reserve.

Grand Seiko gives a static accuracy specification of +8 to −3 seconds per day. It describes this as a factory test specification, not a guarantee that a watch will keep that rate in everyday wear. The Japanese model pages separately list a worn accuracy range of +10 to −5 seconds per day; the two figures describe different conditions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
