Wear the inner watch on its own, or enclose it in the larger, crownless case for diving. Kurono lists 5 ATM water resistance for the inner watch and 10 ATM for the diving-case specification, while separately claiming the enclosed watch is engineered for depths up to 300 m. These are distinct manufacturer statements, not equivalent ratings or independent test results. The original allocation application is closed.
How the two-in-one construction works
Rather than equip the compact watch with a conventional screw-down crown, designer Hajime Asaoka’s concept is to place the watch inside a dedicated outer case when greater water protection is needed. Asaoka describes the crown as a vulnerability on diving watches and says the “ultimate solution is to eliminate the crown entirely.” The result is two different wearing modes: a small, dress-watch-like inner watch and a substantially larger assembly with a rotating bezel.
Kurono says the enclosed configuration is intended for diving and claims it is engineered for depths up to 300 m. Its product page also describes the outer seal as providing resistance equivalent to 10 ATM for lighter use when the bezel is secure. The page’s specifications separately list 10 ATM for the diving-case configuration. None of these manufacturer statements should be read as an independently verified dive certification or as interchangeable test conditions.

Movement, bezel and design details
Automatic movement
The inner watch uses a Miyota 90S5 automatic movement with 24 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and an approximately 40-hour power reserve, according to Kurono. The inner case has a solid caseback.
Outer bezel and seal
The outer case has a unidirectional, threaded bezel made from Extra Super Duralumin and hard-anodized deep red. Kurono says it can be unscrewed with a dedicated opener and operated by hand for lighter use. The product description ties the lighter-use sealing statement to the bezel being secure.

Inner-watch styling
The Diver’s debuts a cushion-shaped case for Kurono. Its indices and hands are luminous; Asaoka describes the blue-steel cathedral hands as skeletonized. The calf-leather strap has a quick-release fitting.
What Kurono said about development
Kurono says the design took many years to develop, with field testing and high-pressure trials, and that it worked with official Japanese public research institutes to evaluate performance. The product-page statement does not name the institutes or link to a test report, so the testing remains a manufacturer-reported account rather than an independently documented result.

Original price, allocation and availability
Kurono offered the set at $2,700 excluding taxes and duties in 2026. Allocation was by worldwide ballot. Applicants with recreational or higher diving certifications, including PADI, SSI or NAUI, were to receive priority, but certification did not guarantee an allocation; Kurono said a majority of allocations would remain available to the general public.
The manufacturer’s page says applications closed at 11:59 p.m. JST on March 11, 2026, and now displays “APPLICATIONS CLOSED.” Successful applicants were originally due to be notified by March 16, with deliveries expected from May 2026 onward. That schedule was an expectation at launch, not confirmation that every order shipped. No current resale stock or active marketplace listing is established here.
