Kurono limited each color to 188 watches. The maker now lists all three versions and the three-watch set as sold out; its stated purchase and collection channel is the Aoyama salon in Tokyo, not online ordering.
What makes the Aoyama Trio distinctive?
The release pairs a compact, restrained case with Urushi dials in three colors. Kurono says the lacquer is applied by hand and that preparing and drying a dial can take up to two months. The trio was introduced to celebrate the brand’s Aoyama salon.
Kurono describes Urushi as lacquer made from filtered sap of the Japanese lacquer tree. It says clear lacquer seals the dial patterns and that the material continues to cure and harden after manufacture. These are the maker’s descriptions of its materials and process.
Three colors, limited individually
- Red: limited to 188 watches.
- Green: limited to 188 watches.
- Brown: limited to 188 watches.
Kurono’s stated limit of 188 per color includes watches sold as part of sets. The maker says there will be no re-editions.

The 20-to-16 mm taper is useful if you plan to fit a replacement strap. The listed 3 ATM rating is a modest water-resistance specification, so this is best understood as a dress watch rather than a watch intended for swimming.
Urushi appearance and aging
Kurono says sunlight, especially ultraviolet exposure, can gradually lighten the lacquer and make it more translucent over time. That means the dial’s appearance may change with exposure; the maker’s statement does not specify how quickly a particular watch will change or how much its color may shift. Owners who wish to limit this effect should avoid prolonged direct sun exposure.

Availability and original launch prices
Kurono’s official Grand Urushi Aoyama page marks the red, green and brown watches and the three-watch set sold out. It says the watch can only be ordered and picked up at the Kurono salon in Aoyama, Tokyo, with no online ordering. The page does not establish current resale availability or value.
At launch in December 2022, Monochrome Watches reported that 88 three-watch sets were initially offered, with individual watches scheduled from February 2023. Its reported prices were JPY 889,000 excluding VAT for the set and JPY 358,500 excluding VAT for an individual watch.
