The Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase Year of the Dragon is a limited edition of 888 pieces, announced on 2 February 2024. Its defining detail is an engraved dragon on the caseback, designed by Chinese artist Zinan Lam. The watch is identified by reference L4.815.4.09.2; the published specifications below are for that reference as listed by Longines Hong Kong, not a separate confirmation of edition stock.
What makes the Year of the Dragon edition distinctive?
Longines invited Chinese artist Zinan Lam to create the special design for the 2024 edition. The brand describes the caseback engraving as a dragon with its head raised and soaring upwards. Longines called it its first Asian Zodiac timepiece and announced a production limit of 888 pieces. Longines announced the edition on 2 February 2024.

How it fits into the Flagship collection
Swatch Group dates the Flagship line to 1957 and describes its traditional signature as an 18-carat gold medallion with a hand-painted enamel caravel. The Year of the Dragon launch instead emphasizes its engraved dragon caseback; the collection’s historic caravel motif should not be mistaken for the special edition’s design.

In a 3 October 2024 collection release, Swatch Group also identifies calibre L899.5, a silicon balance spring, magnetic resistance ten times greater than the ISO 764 reference standard, and up to 72 hours of power reserve for the beige, anthracite, and green Flagship Heritage models discussed there. Those details provide related collection context, but the release does not establish all of them as edition-specific specifications for the Year of the Dragon watch.

A reference match is a useful starting point, not proof that a particular watch is one of the 888 special-edition pieces. Check the watch and its documentation together, especially if a seller describes it as the Year of the Dragon edition.
