Longines has added two steel-and-gold versions of its 42 mm Spirit Flyback: the green-dial L3.821.5.53.2, with an 18-karat yellow-gold cap 200, and the brown-dial L3.821.5.59.2, in stainless steel and rose gold. The launch coverage described both dials as gradient; Longines’ current product listings identify them as green and brown without specifying the gradient treatment.
The two references and their differences
The distinction is primarily one of color and gold tone. Longines pairs the green dial with yellow gold and a green leather strap, while the brown dial is matched with rose gold and a brown leather strap.

What the gradient description means
Element iN Time NYC’s August 22, 2024 launch article called the green and brown dials gradient. Longines’ current product-page text confirms the dial colors but does not describe the gradient effect, so the wording is best understood as launch coverage rather than a detailed official specification. The same retailer article identifies the movement as caliber L791.4 and gives a US$6,500 launch MSRP; that figure is historical, not current pricing.

Shared case and movement specifications
Both watches are 42 mm automatic mechanical flyback chronographs. Longines lists a monocrystalline silicon balance spring and up to 68 hours of power reserve for each. Their cases have bidirectional rotating bezels and screw-in crowns, with sapphire crystals coated on both sides for anti-reflection. Longines rates each to 10 bar water resistance.
Longines states in its Spirit collection copy that the collection’s chronograph movements are COSC-certified. That is a collection-level statement, not a certificate tied here to any individual watch or serial number.

Listed prices depend on market
Longines’ global product page listed the green L3.821.5.53.2 at CHF 5,800, while its US product page listed the brown L3.821.5.59.2 at US$7,400; both listings were retrieved in 2026. These are separate regional listings in different currencies, not a same-market price comparison. Displayed prices and local availability may change, so check Longines’ listing for the relevant market before buying.

The core listed size, flyback function and movement specifications are shared. The choice comes down to the pairing that suits your taste: green with yellow gold and a green strap, or brown with rose gold and a brown strap. If price is decisive, compare current listings in the same market and currency rather than treating the two regional figures above as directly equivalent.
