Mr Jones Watches’ Berry Late! turns a strawberry into a playful time display: a whole berry marks the hour, while a half-eaten one indicates the minutes. Designed by artist Ana Dias, its dial also reveals a cheeky message for a fleeting moment once every hour. The original 200-piece edition is sold out; the idea lives on in the later Berry Late Again! collection design.
How to read the time
The dial uses two illustrated strawberries as hands. The whole strawberry marks the hour; the half-eaten strawberry points to the minutes. Read their positions as you would the hour and minute hands on a conventional watch.
The lettering is arranged to resolve into a readable message once each hour. At other times, the letters appear as an indecipherable mix. For the original Berry Late!, the message is “Fuck it! Time is just a social construct,” as described by Mr Jones Watches’ behind-the-scenes article.
Who designed Berry Late!?
Artist Ana Dias designed Berry Late! for Mr Jones Watches. In words quoted by the brand, Dias said: “The watch combines my love of writing and playing with words coupled with a sense of irony and the absurd.” The brand also quotes her describing the design as “an angel with a dirty face, it’s pastel punk.”

The original dial’s gradient was hand-airbrushed across its 200 pieces, and translucent ink created the cloud effect on the glass, according to the same brand article. These details make the watch’s appearance part of the concept, rather than just a backdrop for its unusual way of telling time.
Berry Late! and Berry Late Again!: what changed?
The original Berry Late! was a numbered limited edition of 200. Mr Jones Watches reported that it sold out in around 18 minutes after launch in a May 9, 2023 article; that timing is the company’s own report, not an independently verified sales figure. The original product page is marked sold out, so it should not be treated as available new from the brand.

On September 14, 2023, Mr Jones Watches introduced Berry Late Again! as a permanent-collection version following the limited launch. The brand describes the later design as having updated dial colors and cloud positions; it retains the strawberry time display and hourly message. The current Berry Late Again! listing gives the product specifications and regional availability.
