What is the 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition?
It is Porsche Design’s limited-edition take on the Chronograph 1, connecting the watch’s design history with the first 911 Turbo. Porsche Design announced it on 16 August 2024, with production limited to 500 pieces. The company says the design adapts selected details from the original 1974 911 Turbo (G model). Porsche Design’s announcement describes the original car as a 3.0-litre six-cylinder boxer producing 260 hp; those are historical car details, not watch specifications.
The Chronograph 1 dates to 1972. Porsche Design presents this anniversary model as a continuation of its “sports car for the wrist” concept. The shop listing points to the car in details such as the rotor styled after a Fuchs wheel, the historic Porsche crest on its cover cap, and a beige textile strap with a black Turbo badge. Porsche Shop’s product listing attributes this line to Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche: “My aim was to design a watch for 911 drivers.” The listing does not document when or where he said it.

How does it connect to the original 911 Turbo?
The anniversary is tied to the first 911 Turbo’s presentation at the 1974 Paris Motor Show. Porsche Design identifies the original as a G model and says the watch takes inspiration from characteristic details of that car. The strongest visual cue is the Fuchs-wheel-style rotor; the beige textile strap and Turbo lettering carry the reference onto the wrist. The launch announcement supplies the car’s 3.0-litre boxer and 260 hp figures, but they should not be confused with any watch performance measure.
What is included, and what should buyers check?
Porsche Shop lists both a black-coated titanium bracelet and a textile strap with a Velcro fastener, along with an interchangeable strap system. The listing gives a 22 mm lug width. It does not establish compatibility with third-party straps, so confirm fit with Porsche or an authorized source before buying replacements.
