What changed in the redesigned PrimaLuna Moonphase?
Longines describes the 2025 PrimaLuna as a complete redesign, citing refined case proportions, a new date display within the moonphase complication, and gem-setting work. The launch release particularly highlights a blue mother-of-pearl model with a bezel set with 48 sapphires. That detail applies to the model highlighted in the release, not every PrimaLuna Moonphase. Longines’ announcement calls the collection “a complete reimagining” and says it embodies the brand’s view that “true elegance evolves while remaining fundamentally timeless”—brand positioning, rather than an independent assessment of the redesign.

Specifications of reference L8.126.0.97.2
Longines lists the blue mother-of-pearl and blue alligator-strap reference L8.126.0.97.2 with a 34 mm stainless steel case and automatic movement. Its listed power reserve is up to 72 hours, and the movement beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour. These are manufacturer specifications, not results of independent testing. Longines’ US product page also lists:
- Display: moonphase with date.
- Water resistance: 3 bar.
- Crystal: scratch-resistant sapphire with several anti-reflective coating layers on both sides.
- Balance spring: monocrystalline silicon.
- Clasp: triple safety folding clasp with push-piece opening.
A 3-bar rating is the manufacturer’s stated specification; it should not be treated as evidence that the watch is suitable for every water activity.

Which version should you compare?
- Choose by wearing surface first: L8.126.0.97.2 has an alligator strap, while L8.126.0.71.6 and L8.126.5.79.7 have bracelets.
- For a blue mother-of-pearl dial, the listed example is L8.126.0.97.2. Its sapphire bezel is a model-specific launch highlight.
- For an opaline ivory dial with a diamond-set case, L8.126.0.71.6 is the documented example; Longines specifies 58 diamonds totaling 0.580 carats.
- For a two-tone bracelet, L8.126.5.79.7 combines stainless steel and yellow-gold cap.
Check the exact reference on Longines’ local product page before comparing availability or price: similar collection names do not mean every reference shares the same dial, setting, bracelet, or price.
