What is the Sarpaneva Supermoon?
The Supermoon is a tribute to the original Korona K3, presented by Stepan Sarpaneva in 2008. Monochrome Watches describes the K3 as an emblematic design; the maker presents the Supermoon as a return to it with updates. The connection is most visible in the openworked dial and the moon face placed beneath it.

The maker says the design draws on Helsinki pavement ironwork and natural imagery including branches, clouds, a forest and the night sky. The layered dial makes the moon appear beneath a structure. This is the maker’s account of the design’s inspiration.
Sarpaneva also explains the moon’s expression through a reflection on mood in Finland. The official product page quotes him: “everyone here in Finland floats around with an aura of slight melancholy,” and says this feeling led him away from a conventionally smiling moon. That is his stated interpretation, not a claim about every Finnish person.

How does the Supermoon differ from the Korona K3?
The clearest distinction established by the available descriptions is that the Supermoon is a new, limited tribute to the 2008 K3, rather than the original watch itself. Its presentation retains the K3’s openworked, moon-face language, while the maker describes the moon as enlarged. Monochrome explains that two moon faces sit below the dial grid.
For the Supermoon, the maker specifies a 12 mm white-gold moon display beneath a hand-finished, three-part openworked steel dial. The supplied specifications do not establish a complete side-by-side comparison of the original K3’s movement, dimensions or price, so those should not be inferred from the tribute relationship.

Sarpaneva Supermoon price and availability
StudioSarpaneva’s Supermoon Blue listing displays a price of €19,000 before tax and €23,845 with Finland’s displayed 25.5% VAT. The tax-inclusive total depends on destination, so buyers should use the amount calculated for their own location rather than treating the Finnish figure as universal.
The edition is limited to 12 pieces. The maker provides an order/contact route, but its standard Supermoon page does not state remaining stock, and no published figure establishes how many pieces remain. The Blue listing shows an estimated delivery time of 3–7 months; delivery estimates can change, so confirm current timing directly with the maker.
