MB&F’s two steel Longhorns open its 20th-anniversary celebrations with very different complications: one is a perpetual calendar built around a mechanical processor, while the other is a pair of flyback chronographs coordinated by a binary switch. Each is limited to 20 pieces and shares the anniversary design treatment, but the watches are not interchangeable interpretations of the same idea.
Two anniversary watches, two different jobs
MB&F identifies 2025 as its 20th-anniversary year and describes the LM Perpetual Longhorn and LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn as the opening pair of its celebrations. The brand says each model is limited to 20 pieces. Both bring the Longhorn treatment to a Legacy Machine complication, but one is designed to track the calendar and the other to time events.
The long-horn idea dates to 2009, during the design phase of the LM1. MB&F revisited a surviving LM1 prototype for that model’s first anniversary in 2021; these anniversary editions carry the elongated-lug concept into two different watches. Their shared palette pairs a stainless-steel case with a rhodium-plated base plate, glossy black lacquer sub-dials and blued hands. MB&F’s anniversary announcement presents the pair as a common design statement rather than identical machines.
LM Perpetual Longhorn: a calendar with a mechanical processor
The LM Perpetual’s central idea is a fully integrated perpetual calendar. Developed for MB&F with independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell and first released in 2015, the movement was purpose-built around the calendar rather than using a calendar module added to a base calibre. Its mechanical processor accounts for months of different lengths, allowing the calendar to advance without the skipped dates the brand says can occur with conventional calendar arrangements.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Adjustment protection is another part of the design: MB&F says the adjuster pushers automatically deactivate while the calendar changes, addressing the risk of damaging the mechanism by trying to adjust it at the wrong time. The watch displays hours, minutes, day, retrograde date, month, retrograde leap year and power reserve. Its flying balance wheel is 14 mm across.
MB&F’s official LM Perpetual collection page lists a 581-component, 41-jewel, manually wound movement with two mainspring barrels and a 72-hour power reserve. The stated case dimensions are 44 x 17.5 mm. The reviewed Longhorn collection text does not specify water resistance.

LM Sequential Flyback Longhorn: two chronographs, coordinated
Where the Perpetual organizes calendar information, the Sequential Flyback is built to measure elapsed time. Its fully integrated dual-chronograph flyback system was developed with Stephen McDonnell. The two chronographs can operate independently or together in different timing configurations; the Twinverter binary switch coordinates their start and stop behavior, enabling modes such as split-second, cumulative and lap timing.
MB&F introduced the first Sequential, the LM Sequential EVO, in 2022. The brand describes it as its first chronograph and twentieth calibre. The Flyback version adds flyback capability to both chronographs, so each can be reset and restarted without first stopping. The Longhorn’s indications include separate seconds and minutes for the left and right chronographs.

The meaningful choice is functional, not a universal ranking. The Perpetual is the calendar-focused machine; the Sequential Flyback is for coordinating multiple elapsed-time measurements. The latter is 0.7 mm thicker by the listed dimensions, while only it has a stated water-resistance rating in the reviewed Longhorn specifications.
