The black version is reference SY23S400; Swatch’s UK product page listed it at £222 on 7 October 2026, though price and availability can change.
What is the Swatch Sistem51 Petite Seconde?
It is a styling and display variation within Swatch’s Sistem51 collection, not a documented new movement. Swatch describes PETITE SECONDE BLACK (SY23S400) as an automatic mechanical watch with a small-seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, a date window, a sun-brushed black dial, applied markers and a black leather strap. These details give the face a more conventional dress-watch vocabulary than a simple central-hours-and-minutes layout.
The word “Petite Seconde” refers to the small-seconds register: seconds are shown on a separate subdial rather than by a long central seconds hand. Swatch’s official product description is available on its UK PETITE SECONDE BLACK page.
What does the small-seconds dial do?
The subdial at six o’clock displays elapsed seconds on its own smaller scale. It changes the visual balance of the dial and distinguishes seconds from the central hour and minute hands. The date window adds a separate calendar display; the available product information does not specify a different technical function or performance benefit for this layout.

What is the Sistem51 movement background?
Swatch Group’s announcement dated 25 April 2013 describes Sistem51 as a self-winding mechanical movement made from 51 components, assembled through a fully automated process, and offering a 90-hour power reserve. The company also described one central screw, factory laser adjustment, ARCAP components and a transparent rotor. Those are manufacturer statements about the Sistem51 platform, not independent test results or evidence of a movement revision specific to Petite Seconde. Swatch Group’s historical description is in its Sistem51 announcement.

The product information and Swatch Group’s movement history establish the design details and the manufacturer’s description of the wider Sistem51 platform. They do not establish the Petite Seconde’s specific launch date or provide independent findings on accuracy, comfort, durability or value. A more elegant dial layout is observable; a technical upgrade for this particular model is not documented in these sources.
