What the design borrows from Porsche
The silver skeleton dial and its yellow and black details take their cues from the wheels and livery of the Porsche 550 Spyder. The “55” motif points to the car, while the movement’s oscillating mass is shaped to evoke a Porsche steering wheel. The perforated strap continues the motorsport theme, with yellow lining and stitching described in TAG Heuer’s brochure.
The edition size, 255, is another link to the 550 Spyder. TAG Heuer presents the watch as a tribute to the Porsche and its Carrera Panamericana history, rather than as a standard production Carrera with only a different color scheme. TAG Heuer’s Official Magazine details the design references and the special-edition context.

The Carrera Panamericana connection
The Carrera Panamericana was a 3,000-kilometer Mexican road race held from 1950 through 1954, then revived in 1988, according to TAG Heuer. The race also sits behind the Carrera name: TAG Heuer’s history connects Jack Heuer’s choice of name for the Carrera chronograph to the event.
In 1954, Porsche’s 550 Spyder finished first and second in the under-1500cc class and third overall. Porsche later marked the 70th anniversary of that achievement with a one-off 718 Spyder RS Panamericana Special; its 14 October 2024 report describes the car and the anniversary. TAG Heuer’s watch is a companion tribute to that story.

Price and availability
TAG Heuer’s US listing displayed $38,250 when accessed in 2026. That figure is specific to the US product page and may change; official regional pages can show different prices and stock status. Check the product page for the market where you intend to buy, and confirm availability and seller authorization before ordering.
The model’s 255-piece limit is stated by TAG Heuer, but limited-edition status alone does not confirm that any particular retailer still has stock. The available evidence does not establish a like-for-like competing watch or independent performance comparison, so a claim that it outperforms another model would not be supported.
