The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Dark is a black-coated, 41 mm chronograph released in 2019 as reference 79360DK. It combines Black Bay Dark styling with an automatic column-wheel chronograph, a tachymeter bezel and a date at 6 o’clock. TUDOR tied the Japan-market launch to its partnership with the All Blacks and the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
What is the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Dark?
Reference 79360DK is a Black Bay Chrono variant distinguished by its black PVD-coated steel case and bracelet. In its 14 September 2019 Japan-market announcement, TUDOR described it as adding a chronograph to the Black Bay Dark design. The release connected the black finish to the All Blacks’ all-black uniform and said team members wore the Black Bay Dark; that is the brand’s explanation of the launch, not an independently documented design history.

How limited is reference 79360DK?
TUDOR announced an initial production of 1,181 watches, corresponding to the number of All Blacks players it said had been selected since the team’s founding in 1884. The release also said production would be added as further players were selected. It is therefore accurate to describe 1,181 as the initial run, not as a permanently capped lifetime total. TUDOR said each watch would have a serial number engraved on its caseback.

What was the launch date and price?
The Japan-market announcement set the start date at 14 September 2019 and listed a price of ¥583,334 before tax. That is historical Japanese launch pricing, not a current price, resale valuation or price indication for other markets. The announcement does not establish present availability or current market value.
What does the All Blacks connection mean?
The 2019 launch coincided with the Rugby World Cup in Japan. TUDOR presented the watch as a tribute to the All Blacks, its partner, linking the black-coated finish to the team’s uniform and noting that players wore the Black Bay Dark. The team reference also explains the initial production figure: TUDOR tied it to the number of selected players it cited, while stating that production could grow with future selections.

How to identify or assess a pre-owned 79360DK
Use the full model name and reference—“TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Dark 79360DK”—when searching, since other Black Bay Chrono references can have different finishes and configurations. For an individual watch, request documentation that supports its reference and serial number, and have a qualified watch professional assess its condition. The model’s published water-resistance rating alone cannot confirm that an older watch’s seals remain sound. Current seller legitimacy, inventory, service support and asking prices must be checked for the specific transaction.

TUDOR’s 2021 Black Bay Chrono press materials describe a broader chronograph history, including the 1970 Oysterdate as the brand’s first chronograph. That collection context does not make the later model’s specifications interchangeable with those of reference 79360DK. Identify the exact reference before comparing dimensions, movement, finish or other features.
