What inspired the Strawberries & Cream design?
The concept grew from a joke in an Instagram comments exchange and an imagined ideal summer day described by watch and tennis journalist Miguel Seabra: British sunshine, a tennis match, strawberries and cream. That is a design inspiration, not evidence of an official Wimbledon association or partnership. Launch accounts from James Porter & Son and Europa Star connect the colourway with that scene.
How is the dial arranged?
The dial uses an asymmetrical bi-compax layout: a large 30-minute chronograph register sits at 3 o’clock, with small seconds at 9. Brand and movement text are arranged asymmetrically near 12. The textured red centre is intended to evoke strawberry skin; cream-coloured outer elements and the tachymeter scale, orange seed-inspired hour markers, and green-tipped chronograph hands carry the theme across the dial. What movement is in the watch?
The watch uses the hand-wound Seagull ST-1901, a Chinese-made chronograph movement. Launch coverage traces its design lineage to the Venus 175 and reports that the historical tooling and drawings were transferred in the early 1960s. That lineage does not make the movement Swiss-made. The published winding reserve is 50 hours with the chronograph off and 45 hours while it is running; these are stated specifications, not independently verified results for every example. How was it supplied and inspected?
The original package included a 20-to-16 mm Epsom calfskin strap made by The Strap Tailor and a tapered Milanese mesh bracelet. Both were described as having quick-release spring bars. Launch reporting also says the watches were assembled in Great Britain and independently inspected in the UK, including demagnetisation and rate review in three positions, with regulation when necessary and a movement report card. What did it cost, and can you buy one now?
The original preorder price was £575, €600 or US$675. The preorder window ran from August 9 through August 16, 2022. The brand said the order page would not reopen and the watch would not be produced again, according to launch coverage from James Porter & Son and Time+Tide. Those figures and dates refer only to the original launch, not current market pricing.
