Zenith introduced the DEFY Revival A3643 on January 19, 2026, at LVMH Watch Week. It reinterprets a 1969 DEFY with a 37 mm steel case, octagonal profile, 14-sided bezel and a silver dial whose layered markers and orange seconds-hand accent set it apart. Its reference number is 03.A3642.670/01.M3642.
What is new about the Zenith DEFY Revival A3643?
The A3643 is a contemporary tribute to an original 1969 DEFY reference. Zenith’s launch announcement presents it as a new addition to the Revival family, following the A3642 revival and the A3691 reference. Its most visible distinction is a sunray silver dial, rather than the darker or more strongly colored treatments associated with other DEFY designs. Zenith’s January 19, 2026 press release frames 1969 as a defining year for the brand, when it launched the DEFY line alongside the El Primero calibre.
The launch announcement describes the dial as recreated using a high-precision scan of the historical model. That is Zenith’s account of its design process; it does not independently establish a complete history or provenance for every detail of the original reference.
What distinguishes the dial and case?
The steel case measures 37 mm in diameter. Its angular, octagonal silhouette meets a bezel with 14 sides, retaining the geometric identity Zenith associates with the early DEFY. The silver sunray finish gives the A3643 a brighter, more restrained face than its bold case outline might suggest.

- Legibility details: The markers and faceted hands are rhodium-plated and coated with Super-LumiNova SLN C1; luminous blocks add contrast against the dark recesses.
- Seconds-hand accent: A rectangular orange segment provides a small but conspicuous flash of color on the central seconds hand.
Zenith’s historical framing emphasizes angular geometry, faceted surfaces and a robust, “bank vault” character. The A3643 carries those visual cues into a current watch rather than reproducing every aspect of a vintage example.
What movement and specifications does it have?
Behind the sapphire display back is Zenith’s automatic Elite 670 manufacture movement, visible with an openworked Zenith star rotor. The published specifications are:
| Specification | Zenith’s published detail |

| Case | Stainless steel; 37 mm diameter |
| Dial | Sunray silver |

These are manufacturer-published figures, not independently measured test results. Zenith states water resistance as 30 ATM; that is the unit given in its specifications.
How does the A3643 connect to the 1969 DEFY?
Zenith traces the DEFY line to 1969 and describes the original design through its angular case, faceted surfaces and emphasis on structural integrity. The octagonal case, 14-sided bezel and Ladder bracelet are central to that family resemblance. Zenith says the original Ladder bracelet was designed exclusively for the brand by Gay Frères in 1969; the A3643 uses a steel Ladder bracelet.
