The Casio Mudmaster GWG-B1000 is worth considering if you want a large, rugged analog-digital watch with solar charging, radio time calibration, outdoor sensors and Bluetooth-linked functions. Its trade-off is substantial size: the GWG-B1000-1A3 measures 58.7 × 52.1 × 16.2 mm and weighs 114 g, according to Casio’s international listing accessed in 2026. It is not a discreet or lightweight everyday watch, and whether it suits your wrist is best judged by trying it on.
What the GWG-B1000 offers
The GWG-B1000 combines an analog-digital display with a broad set of features intended for rugged use. Casio lists a Carbon Core Guard structure, a carbon-fibre-reinforced resin case and metal bezel and guard components. The manufacturer rates it as shock-, mud/dust- and vibration-resistant, with 20-bar water resistance. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent field-test results. - Power and timekeeping: Tough Solar charging, Multiband 6 radio time calibration and a Bluetooth smartphone link. Radio calibration’s practical usefulness depends on your region and reception conditions.
- Sensors: compass, altimeter/barometer and thermometer. The thermometer is affected by body heat, so Casio advises taking the watch off to measure ambient temperature. Altimeter readings are estimates, not a replacement for a dedicated calibrated instrument.
- Visibility and daily functions: sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, double high-brightness LED illumination, sunrise and sunset display, stopwatch, countdown timer and daily alarms.
- Bluetooth-linked tools: automatic time adjustment, watch-setting controls, Mission Log, Location Indicator, Location Memory, mode customization, GPS-assisted altitude adjustment and phone finder.
Mission Log combines altitude data from the watch with a course recorded by a smartphone’s GPS. Location Indicator points toward a saved or app-set destination; manual map-point setting has a regional exception in China. Casio warns that GPS information can contain errors, so these functions are useful aids rather than a substitute for dedicated navigation equipment. G-SHOCK’s GWG-B1000 feature information

At 58.7 mm long, 52.1 mm wide, 16.2 mm thick and 114 g, the listed GWG-B1000-1A3 has a prominent, substantial presence. Those figures establish that it is not slim or light; they do not establish whether it will fit or feel comfortable on a particular wrist. Casio Europe describes the model as offering a comfortable fit, but that is manufacturer wording, not independent wear-test evidence.
#1 Best Overall
- Triple Sensor (compass, altimeter/barometer, and thermometer)
- Solar Powered
- Radio- Controlled
- Bluetooth Mobile Link
- Double LED
Compare it with a watch you already wear comfortably, paying attention to thickness, overall width or lug span, and weight—not just the advertised case width. The watch’s strap shape and the way its broad case sits can also affect how it wears. If sleeve clearance, keyboard use or all-day comfort matters, try it on before buying when possible; published dimensions alone cannot predict those experiences.
Who is likely to get value from it?
It makes sense if you will use the combination
The GWG-B1000 is a stronger fit for someone who specifically wants rugged construction, solar charging, radio time calibration, a compass and altimeter/barometer, plus an analog-digital display and app-linked logging or location aids in one watch. The breadth of functions is part of the proposition; it is harder to justify if several of them will go unused.

Look elsewhere if size or simplicity is the priority
Consider another type of watch if you mainly want something light, slim and unobtrusive for daily wear, or if you do not expect to use its sensors and phone-linked tools. Its many functions do not make it universally good value: the choice depends on whether those functions matter to you and whether the physical size suits your routine.

How to judge the price
Casio’s 2023 Japanese launch release listed a price of ¥121,000 including tax for the GWG-B1000-1A. That is a historical Japanese launch price, not a current global street price. Regional listings, stock and selling prices can differ, so check the price and availability in your market before deciding what the feature set is worth to you. Casio Japan’s 2023 launch announcement
