What the EasX-CHANGE refresh offers
Time+Tide’s 27 January 2023 article presented the rubber straps as a way to give familiar IWC Pilot’s Watches a sportier look and an alternative to traditional calfskin. It described the rubber as durable, comfortable and water resistant; those are the article’s characterizations, not results of controlled comparative testing. The practical appeal is a rubber option for wearers who want a strap more suited to water-oriented use.
IWC describes EasX-CHANGE as a tool-free strap-changing system: press the button on the back of the strap to release it. The brand says, “The EasX-Change® system makes swapping straps incredibly easy.” IWC’s straps and bracelets page also provides a finder and support options.

IWC says EasX-CHANGE was introduced in 2021 in the Pilot collection, citing the Big Pilot’s Watch 43, Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 and Pilot’s Watch Mark XX as examples. How to check which strap fits your IWC
- Find the watch reference or serial number. Use the identification shown for your particular watch rather than relying only on its case diameter.
- Open IWC’s strap and bracelet finder and enter the reference or serial number when prompted.
- Confirm that the listed strap is compatible with that exact watch before ordering. The 20 mm and 21 mm dimensions in the 2023 article are useful context, but do not establish fit for an unverified reference.
- If your watch is from a past collection and the finder does not show an EasX-CHANGE option, consult IWC’s alternatives or contact its support or a boutique. IWC notes that some past-collection watches do not have quick-change or EasX-CHANGE systems.
How the strap and buckle change
For a compatible EasX-CHANGE strap, press the release button on its back to detach it, then fit the replacement according to IWC’s instructions for that strap. The 2023 article says the spring bars stay fixed in position during the strap swap. It also describes a tool-free spring bar at the clasp, allowing a compatible buckle to be transferred. Check compatibility before moving a buckle; the system does not make every strap or buckle interchangeable across IWC watches.

Colors and style choices in the 2023 range
Time+Tide listed brown, forest green, navy blue, orange, ice blue, yellow and dark red for the 20 mm straps. It said the 21 mm options also included black. This is the color range reported in that January 2023 article, not a statement of current stock or regional availability.
When choosing among compatible options, compare the look and use you want: rubber for a sportier, water-oriented style or calfskin for a traditional leather appearance. Then consider color and the model-specific design details, including rivets and taper. The sources do not provide controlled comparisons of comfort or durability.
