IWC’s 2023 TOP GUN Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 “Oceana” and “Jet Black” share the same 41 mm ceramic chronograph platform, but take opposite visual approaches: Oceana pairs blue ceramic with a denim-finish strap inlay, while Jet Black is black throughout. Both use IWC-manufactured calibre 69380 and have titanium pushers and case backs. The comparison below is based on IWC’s launch specifications, not independent hands-on testing.
What are the IWC Oceana and Jet Black?
IWC introduced the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN “Oceana” (Ref. 389404) and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN “Jet Black” (Ref. 389401) at Watches and Wonders in Geneva on 27 March 2023. IWC described them as its first 41 mm Pilot’s Chronographs in ceramic.

How do the two watches differ?

The Oceana’s blue ceramic was developed with Pantone, according to IWC, and the company says its color takes inspiration from blue U.S. Navy work overalls worn by pilots doing demanding work aboard aircraft carriers. A Monochrome Watches video result separately describes the design as inspired by waters around Naval Air Station Oceana; that is a different source’s description, not the explanation in IWC’s launch release.
IWC describes Jet Black ceramic as inspired by technical components of supersonic jets. The company says ceramic has been a signature material of its TOP GUN line since the line’s establishment in 2007.

What do the watches share?
Calibre 69380 chronograph movement
Both watches use IWC-manufactured calibre 69380. IWC describes the movement as a mechanical chronograph and specifies that the stopped minutes are displayed at 12 o’clock. The launch material does not provide an independently measured accuracy result.
Case construction and dial details
IWC specifies a soft-iron inner case and says the front glass is secured against sudden drops in cockpit air pressure. The brand also lists luminous elements on the hands and dial. These are manufacturer specifications; the cited launch information does not report independent testing of the watches’ performance.
Water resistance
IWC gives both references a water-resistance rating of 10 bar. This is the manufacturer’s stated specification, not a result from an independent test cited in the launch announcement.

Choose Oceana for the blue-and-textile contrast
Oceana is the more distinctive colorway of the pair: its blue ceramic case and dial continue onto a blue rubber strap, whose denim-finish textile inlay adds a contrasting surface. The launch sources establish the materials and color, but do not provide comparative evidence about comfort, legibility, or durability in everyday use.

Jet Black keeps the case, dial, and rubber strap in black. IWC also says its EasX-CHANGE system lets owners exchange the strap without additional tools. The launch release identifies this feature for Jet Black; it does not establish that a particular alternative strap is compatible.
What did IWC say about launch availability and warranty?
In its 27 March 2023 announcement, IWC said Oceana was available through selected IWC boutiques and Jet Black through IWC boutiques, authorized retail partners, or IWC.com. The same release said both watches qualified for My IWC care registration for a six-year extension to the standard two-year International Limited Warranty. Those are launch-era statements; they do not confirm present availability or current warranty terms.
