The IW389105 is IWC’s white-ceramic, black-dial automatic chronograph from the TOP GUN line. It measures 44.5 mm across and 15.7 mm high, runs on IWC calibre 69380, and sits on a white rubber strap. It lists at £10,500 on IWC’s UK page. This is a specification-and-design assessment built from IWC’s own material and one independent hands-on review. It is not a wrist-test or long-term ownership report.
What the watch is
IWC announced the Lake Tahoe and its green sibling, Woodland, on 30 March 2022. The brand pitched them as a shift in TOP GUN’s character. CEO Christoph Grainger-Herr described the colored-ceramic cases as part of TOP GUN’s evolution “from a collection primarily focused on performance to a bold style statement and an expression of a distinct way of life” (IWC press release, 30 March 2022).
The Lake Tahoe’s design draws on white US Navy uniforms and the winter landscape around Lake Tahoe. IWC says pilots of the US Navy TOPGUN School frequently fly over the area. The result is a deliberately conspicuous watch: a bright white case against a black dial, with black hands carrying luminescent material.

The white ceramic
Yes, the case is ceramic. IWC explains that colored ceramic uses zirconium oxide combined with other metallic oxides, and that each shade needs its own formula and adapted manufacturing conditions. Chief Design Officer Christian Knoop said IWC developed two new ceramic colors, “IWC Lake Tahoe” white and “IWC Woodland” green, and “matched meticulously all other components of the watches to these new shades.”
That is the manufacturer’s account of its process; it is not an independent materials test. No source reviewed here provides scratch-resistance, durability or color-stability measurements, so none are claimed. A white case and white rubber strap will naturally show dirt differently from black ones, but that is general reasoning, not tested evidence on this model.

Movement
IWC lists calibre 69380 as an automatic chronograph with a 46-hour reserve and a 4 Hz beat. The independent Time and Watches hands-on review (April 2022) describes it as a column-wheel chronograph with bi-directional pawl winding. Those architecture details rest on that review, not on IWC’s product page. The 46-hour reserve is a modest figure for a watch at this price, but accuracy and long-term reliability are not covered by the sources.
Size and wearability
At 44.5 mm and 15.7 mm tall, this is a large, thick chronograph. The dimensions are established; how it sits on a particular wrist is not, since no wrist testing was done for this article. Two things are worth checking in person: the case’s visual mass, which a white finish tends to emphasize, and the 21 mm rubber strap’s fit. Anyone with a smaller wrist should try it before committing.

- WATCH MOVEMENT: The LIV P-51 is powered by a super-accurate 25 Jewel, ETA 7750 Swiss mechanical automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve and 12-hour chronograph. It has been one of the most promising movements in Switzerland in the past 100 years.
- TITANIUM CONSTRUCTION: The P-51 is built with high-grade titanium for strength and comfort. It's twice the strength and half the weight of steel. Indeed, the primary advantage of a titanium watch is its ability to be tough and not heavy at the same time. A titanium watch won't crack regardless of the abuse it gets. Exposure to saltwater, irrespective of the salt density, will not erode it.
- P-51 STORY: We designed the LIV Pilot's P-51 Swiss titanium chronograph to pay homage to the ultimate fighter of WWII. This watch embodies heroism and strength and honors those who braved their lives for a higher purpose.
- SWISS CRAFTMANSHIP: The P-51 Titanium Swiss Automatic Chrono is handcrafted in Switzerland and undergo intense testing in the land of the alps
- WATER RESISTANT: The P-51 is water resistant up to 330 Feet (100M).

The 2022 announcement said annual production of each new Lake Tahoe and Woodland model would be limited to 1,000 pieces. That is a launch-era statement. It does not establish current stock, and since both models share the same stated limit, it doesn’t make one rarer than the other. IWC named its boutiques and authorized retail partners as sales channels; no current retailer stock was verified.

Both were announced together, as separate references, with the same stated annual limit. The difference the sources support is visual: white case and black dial versus green. Prices differ by market, and the sources don’t give enough consistent specifications to rank the two beyond that.

Who it suits
The appeal here is design. If you want a restrained pilot’s chronograph, this is the opposite. If you like a high-contrast, fashion-forward statement piece from a Swiss luxury brand and accept a large case, it delivers that clearly. The decision comes down to whether the oversized white look and the roughly £10,500 price appeal to you; the sources give no basis for calling it better or worse than rivals on performance.
