The IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph TOP GUN Ceratanium, reference IW371815, pairs an all-black design with a split-seconds chronograph: a second stopwatch hand can pause independently while the main hand keeps running. Introduced in 2019, it measures 44 mm across and 16.5 mm high. IWC’s product page now lists it in the brand’s past-collections archive, so current pricing and availability are not established here.
What is the IWC IW371815?
IW371815 is IWC’s Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph TOP GUN Ceratanium. IWC described it at launch as its first Pilot’s Watch with a Ceratanium case and its first Pilot’s Watch with a completely “jet black” design code. The black dial, matte-black case and black rubber strap with textile inlay give the watch a deliberately unified look rather than the contrast of a conventional polished-steel pilot’s chronograph. IWC’s 14 January 2019 launch release says the TOP GUN line takes its name from the U.S. Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program and that IWC had made TOP GUN watches since 2007.
The title’s “hands-on” framing should not be mistaken for a claim of personal handling: the dimensions and functions below are IWC’s published specifications. An independent Monochrome review describes the watch as light for its size and comfortable on a relatively large wrist. That is one reviewer’s impression, not a guarantee of fit; the 44 mm diameter and 16.5 mm height remain important considerations for prospective wearers.
How does a split-seconds chronograph work?
A standard chronograph has one central stopwatch seconds hand. A split-seconds, or rattrapante, chronograph adds a second hand that normally travels in step beneath it. On the IW371815, pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock stops the split-seconds hand while the main chronograph hand continues. Pressing again releases it to catch up and synchronize with the moving hand. This allows the wearer to note two elapsed times within the same minute—for example, the times of two events that begin together but finish separately. IWC specifies chronograph hours, minutes and seconds as well as the split-seconds hand.

What is Ceratanium?
Ceratanium is IWC’s proprietary material, which the brand says is based on a special titanium alloy. IWC characterizes it as combining titanium-like lightness and robustness with ceramic-like hardness and scratch resistance, and says the material gives the case a matte-black appearance. These are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not independent comparative test results. For IW371815, IWC says all case components—including the chronograph pushers and pin buckle—are made from Ceratanium. The launch announcement also attributes skin compatibility and corrosion resistance to the material.

These are the specifications on IWC’s archived product page, accessed in 2026. IWC also specifies a convex sapphire crystal with antireflective treatment on both sides, secured against displacement by a drop in air pressure, and says the soft-iron inner case protects the movement against magnetic fields. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test findings.

IWC’s archived listing places IW371815 among past collections. The available information does not establish a current MSRP, present production status beyond that archive designation, or local or marketplace stock. A used or remaining-stock example should therefore be assessed on its own condition, provenance and seller terms rather than against an assumed current retail price. The specified 21 mm strap width can help identify replacement options, but width alone does not establish that a particular strap will fit the watch’s attachment hardware.
