What is the IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 Salmon?
IW358313 is IWC’s reference for this Portugieser Automatic 40, with a dial the manufacturer calls “Salmon.” The official US specification lists a stainless-steel case and black alligator-leather strap. These are manufacturer-published details, not independent test findings. IWC’s US product page identifies the reference and its specifications.
Case, dial and water resistance
IWC specifies a 40.4 mm case diameter and 12.3 mm case height. The strap is 20 mm wide at the lugs, with an 18 mm buckle. The crystal is convex sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both sides; the case back has a synthetic sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated at 3 Bar. That is the published rating; IWC’s cited product page does not specify activity guidance, so it should not be taken as a swimming or diving recommendation.
Movement and power reserve
The watch uses IWC-manufactured caliber 82200, an automatic movement with the brand’s Pellaton winding system. IWC lists a 60-hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), 192 components and 31 jewels. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not results from an independent accuracy test.

Price by market
Prices vary by region and tax treatment. The official IWC US page displayed US$7,900 excluding VAT when accessed in 2026. IWC’s German page displayed €7,800 including tax, while its Italian page displayed €8,000 including tax. These are localized manufacturer-page prices, not one global price; they can change. Check the applicable IWC page or retailer for the current price in your market. IWC Germany and IWC Italy show the respective regional listings.
Where the Automatic 40 fits in the Portugieser line
IWC says the Portugieser Automatic 40 joined the collection in 2020. The brand connects its open dial and small seconds at 6 o’clock to the first Portugieser, reference 325, from 1939. Its 2020 collection announcement also identifies caliber 82200 and Pellaton winding in the Automatic 40. IWC’s 2020 press release provides that collection history.

Warranty extension stated on IWC’s US page
IWC’s US product page says owners can extend the standard two-year International Limited Warranty by six years, for eight years total, by registering the watch in My IWC care while the original two-year warranty is still active. This is the offer and condition stated on the US page; confirm the terms that apply in your country and at the time of purchase.
