IWC’s archived catalogue documents 40.9 mm red-gold examples with a self-winding chronograph, 44-hour power reserve and 3-bar water resistance. The catalogue does not establish a current used-market price, and current-generation list prices are not 3714 valuations.
What the IWC Portugieser Chronograph 3714 is
The 3714 is a reference family within IWC’s Portugieser Chronograph line. Older material may use “Portuguese”; IWC’s current product naming uses “Portugieser.” Monochrome’s 2018 review offers historical context, but it is not a current price guide: Monochrome’s 2018 review of the IWC Portugieser Chronograph 3714.
It is important to separate this historical family from current-generation models. Specifications and prices for a newer reference cannot be treated as specifications or prices for a 3714.
3714 specifications in IWC’s archived catalogue
IWC’s 2024 catalogue documents the following specifications for the cited 3714 examples, not necessarily every production year or configuration: IWC Portugieser catalogue, Reference 3714.

| Specification | Catalogue detail for cited 3714 examples |
|---|---|
| Movement | Mechanical self-winding chronograph |
| Power reserve | 44 hours when fully wound |
| Chronograph function | Stopwatch function with minutes and seconds |
| Seconds | Small hacking seconds |
| Case diameter | 40.9 mm |
| Case height | 12.3 mm |
| Crystal | Convex sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides |
| Water resistance | 3 bar |
| Catalogue strap width | 20 mm |
The catalogue’s 44-hour power reserve is specified for a fully wound watch. Its 3-bar water-resistance rating is a stated specification, not a reason to assume the watch is suitable for swimming; the condition and service history of an individual vintage or pre-owned example also matter.
Documented 3714 references and strap variants
The catalogue identifies two 18-carat red-gold examples. These illustrate documented configurations rather than a complete inventory of all 3714 variants.

| IW371482 | 18-carat red gold | Black alligator leather |
For a replacement strap, the catalogue’s 20 mm width is a useful starting point, not a universal fit guarantee. Confirm the exact watch’s lug width, strap taper, buckle width and type, and attachment before ordering. IWC’s general accessory information applies to select models and does not establish that a particular strap fits every 3714: IWC accessories.
What price information is available
No present-day secondary-market range for the 3714 is established here. An old review or the list price of a current successor cannot provide a reliable current valuation for a used 3714.

To judge an asking price for a specific 3714, compare like with like. Establish the full reference and case metal, then assess condition, originality, service documentation, seller provenance, and whether box and papers are included. Use recent comparable transactions for that exact configuration and market rather than substituting a current model’s retail price.

IWC’s current stainless-steel IW371615 is a comparison point, not a 3714 variant. The official page lists a 41 mm case, 13 mm height, 3-bar water resistance, calibre 69355 and a 46-hour power reserve. IWC also describes the current Portugieser Chronograph’s vertical subdial arrangement and quarter-second scale: IWC Portugieser Chronograph IW371615.
