The Ingenieur is the main focus: the collection spans 35, 40 and 42 mm, with new stories around ceramic, a perpetual calendar and a green dial linked to F1: The Movie. Time+Tide’s interview
What the interview covers
Time+Tide’s piece follows presenter Andrew around IWC’s Watches and Wonders booth in conversation with Grainger-Herr. Its subjects include the Ingenieur, the brand’s connection to F1: The Movie, and Pilot’s Watch releases. The article is a video interview, not an official IWC release list. Read the Time+Tide interview
The Pilot’s Watch models mentioned include a skeletonised Shock Absorber Tourbillon XPL and a Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month. The available official IWC overview discussed here focuses on the Ingenieur, so it does not establish detailed specifications for those Pilot’s Watch pieces.
The Ingenieur collection: what is new
IWC’s official 2025 overview presents twelve Ingenieur pieces across 35, 40 and 42 mm case sizes. Those sizes help orient a comparison, but the overview is not a complete side-by-side specification sheet. The distinctions established here are case size, material, dial treatment and complication; details such as thickness, water resistance, movement, power reserve and price are not established by these sources. Ingenieur Automatic 42: ceramic
IWC and Watches and Wonders describe the Automatic 42 as the first Ingenieur executed entirely in ceramic. The event description identifies a multi-part ceramic case construction; its imagery shows a black ceramic case and bracelet. It brings the Ingenieur’s integrated-bracelet design into an all-ceramic execution. Watches and Wonders: IWC Schaffhausen at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025
Ingenieur Automatic 35: a smaller case size
The 35 mm Automatic adds a smaller case size to the range. The official overview identifies 35 mm as one of the collection’s three sizes, alongside 40 and 42 mm. That is a useful starting point for wearability, but the cited overview does not provide a full set of dimensions for comparing fit. IWC’s Watches and Wonders overview

Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar 41: stainless steel and calendar complication
IWC describes the Perpetual Calendar 41 as the first stainless-steel Ingenieur to combine the Genta-inspired design with Kurt Klaus’s perpetual calendar. Its defining distinction in this release overview is the complication paired with a steel case, rather than a new case size among the 35, 40 and 42 mm trio. IWC’s Watches and Wonders overview
Ingenieur Automatic 40: green “Grid” dial
The green-dial Automatic 40 has a “Grid”-pattern dial. IWC says its design was inspired by a bespoke watch worn by Sonny Hayes, the main character in F1: The Movie. This is the brand’s stated design connection; it is distinct from the more specific account of Brad Pitt’s request reported by Time+Tide. IWC’s Watches and Wonders overview

How the green Ingenieur connects to the film
Time+Tide reports that Grainger-Herr connected the special green watch to a personal request from Brad Pitt: a watch inspired by the 1976 reference 1832, with a green dial and half the case thickness removed. The interview article says IWC then released a 1,000-piece limited edition that retained the green hue. Treat this as the interview’s report, not as a complete official specification for the Automatic 40. Time+Tide’s interview
Separately, IWC’s overview says the green “Grid” dial on the Automatic 40 was inspired by the bespoke watch worn by Sonny Hayes. These accounts describe related film links, but they are not interchangeable: the first is Time+Tide’s account of Grainger-Herr’s remarks and the limited edition; the second is IWC’s description of the Automatic 40’s design inspiration.

The figures in the model names indicate the cited case-size categories; the available overview does not provide the complete dimensions needed to predict how each watch will wear on a particular wrist. IWC’s 2025 collection overview also discusses 5N gold variants, but it does not establish that every variant mentioned there is a 2025 novelty.
Interview versus official event coverage
Watches and Wonders lists a separate IWC session titled “#IWCRacing,” featuring Grainger-Herr discussing IWC’s engineering partnership with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One and its extension to Apple Original Films’ F1. The event listing gives the session date as 6 April and its language as English. This is a separate official session, not the Time+Tide interview described above.
