The Marnaut Dark Surge 300M is an automatic dive watch distinguished by raised, radially arranged dial markers inspired by a sea urchin’s shell. The “sub-$1,000” description belongs to the historical introduction, not every Dark Surge now listed: MARNAUT’s official pages show a sold-out 300S Silver at €849 and a 300B Gen 2 at €1,099. Those are euro prices, and availability and pricing can change.
What gives the Dark Surge its sea-urchin dial?
MARNAUT says the dial’s circular indices are positioned to echo the radial pattern of a sea urchin’s exoskeleton. The brand also connects the concept to founder Mario Jutronic’s childhood summers and diving around the Croatian island of Brač. Is the Dark Surge still under $1,000?
Not across the current references listed by MARNAUT. The official Dark Surge 300S Silver page lists €849 and marks that reference sold out; the Dark Surge 300B Gen 2 page lists €1,099. Neither figure is a dollar price, and a listed price does not establish current stock in every region.

The original “sub-$1k” framing is historical. Time+Tide’s Micro Mondays introduction matches that title, but it should not be read as a current price guarantee. Check the exact reference, currency, and stock status with MARNAUT before buying.
