The Jacques Bianchi JB200 is a family of dive watches, not one fixed specification. The current JB200 Maxi Dial is the clearest baseline: the brand lists a 42 mm automatic diver with a SoProd P024 movement, 200 m water-resistance rating and a choice of crown position at 3 or 9 o’clock. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested results. This review focuses on the Maxi Dial and separates details of other JB200 editions where they differ.

What is the Jacques Bianchi JB200?

The JB200 is Jacques Bianchi’s dive-watch family. The atelier’s historical account connects the model to 1982 and describes it as a professional dive watch designed for the Mediterranean (Atelier Jacques Bianchi). The current Maxi Dial retains a straightforward diver layout, while variant choices change the appearance, crown placement, and sometimes the bracelet or dimensions.

For the Maxi Dial, the brand says its design aims to reflect the company’s history and future vision. That is a statement of intent, not evidence of performance.

How big is the JB200 Maxi Dial, and how does it fit?

Jacques Bianchi lists the Maxi Dial at 42 mm in diameter, 13.3 mm thick, and 46 mm from lug to lug, with 20 mm lugs. Those dimensions suggest a relatively broad footprint for a 42 mm watch; whether it suits a particular wrist depends especially on the lug-to-lug span and how the case sits. The Posidonie is a useful reminder that measurements vary within the family: Fratello reported its lug-to-lug length as 47 mm, one millimetre longer than the Maxi Dial figure.

Casio Men's MDV106-1AV 200M Black Dive Watch (MDV106-1A)
  • Stainless Steel case with Black Resin Band
  • Black Dial with date window at 3 O'clock
  • Luminous markers and hour hands; sweep second hand
  • Anti-reverse bezel
  • Water-resistant to 200 M (660 feet)

The Maxi Dial can be ordered with its crown at either 3 or 9 o’clock. The brand calls the left-crown arrangement its signature “destro” version. A left-side crown may appeal if a conventional crown presses against the back of your hand, but personal comfort depends on wrist shape and how you wear the watch. Do not assume every JB200 edition offers both positions: the Red Poulpro is specified with the crown at 9.

What are the Maxi Dial’s specifications?

The following figures are from the manufacturer’s JB200 Maxi Dial specification page. They describe the stated configuration, not independent measurements or test results.

What movement is in the JB200?

The Maxi Dial uses the Swiss SoProd P024 automatic caliber, according to Jacques Bianchi. The listed 38-hour reserve and 4 Hz operating frequency are specification-sheet figures; the available sources do not establish independently measured accuracy, reserve, or performance in daily use. Buyers prioritizing a particular accuracy result should look for a test of the exact watch rather than infer one from the movement name.

Is the JB200 suitable for diving?

The Maxi Dial is specified for 200 metres (20 ATM / 20 bar), with a unidirectional bezel and screw-down caseback. That makes it a dive-style watch by design and manufacturer rating, but the sources do not document an independent pressure test or a dive trial. The rating should therefore be understood as the brand’s stated specification, not a verified result for an individual watch. Follow the manufacturer’s care and maintenance guidance and have water resistance checked as appropriate for the watch’s age and service history.

  • DIVER-INSPIRED DESIGN — Inspired by the sea, the MDV-106G is styled after classic dive watches and delivers 200-meter water resistance at an unbeatable price point. • STAINLESS STEEL CASE WITH SCREW-LOCK CROWN & CASEBACK — The MDV-106G features a stainless steel case and a reliable screw-lock crown for enhanced water resistance protection. Screw-down crown and screw-lock caseback work together to keep the movement sealed and secure during water activities — a construction standard found on dive watches far above this price range.
  • LARGE FLUORESCENT HANDS & INDICES FOR INSTANT READABILITY — The dial features hands and hour indices with large fluorescent areas for easy reading in low-light and underwater conditions. The clean 3-hand analog layout with date display at 3 o'clock keeps the dial uncluttered and immediately legible at a glance.
  • 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE | 22MM LUG WIDTH | MINERAL GLASS — The case measures 44mm in diameter, 12mm in height, with a 49mm lug-to-lug length and a standard 22mm lug width — making strap upgrades effortless with a vast range of aftermarket options. Mineral glass protects the dial from everyday scratches and impacts.
  • 3-YEAR BATTERY & 200M WATER RESISTANCE — Powered by an SR626SW battery with an approximate 3-year life, the case measures 49.5 × 46.3 × 12.1mm and weighs 92 grams. At 200 meters of water resistance, the Duro is versatile and suitable for all situations — whether in the water, hiking, running, or at the office.

How does the Maxi Dial compare with other JB200 variants?

JB200 editions share the family name but differ in dial, crown setup, bracelet or strap, and availability. The published details below are variant-specific; prices and stock are snapshots from the cited pages or launch coverage, not a current universal JB200 price.

What is the JB200’s history?

Atelier Jacques Bianchi identifies the JB200 with 1982 and describes its original concept as a professional Mediterranean dive watch. Fratello’s 2024 Posidonie article places the current model in the context of a 2021 reissue and recounts a history involving an earlier quartz dive watch and an order by the French Navy for combat divers. That Navy account is reported by Fratello; the sources cited here do not include archival or military documentation to corroborate it, so it is best treated as attributed historical context rather than an independently established fact.

Is the Jacques Bianchi JB200 worth buying?

The JB200 Maxi Dial is worth considering if you want a 42 mm mechanical diver with a distinctive oversized-index dial, a choice of crown side, and a stated 200 m rating. The case dimensions and 20 mm lug width provide practical starting points for judging fit and strap options, while the P024’s listed 38-hour reserve is a concrete ownership consideration. The evidence available here supports a specification-led assessment, not a verdict based on personal wear or measured performance.

  • Check the exact edition and crown position before ordering; the family’s configurations are not interchangeable.
  • Compare the 46 mm Maxi Dial lug-to-lug length with your wrist and a watch you already find comfortable.
  • Choose between the Maxi Dial’s rubber strap and the Aquastrike’s specified steel bracelet based on how you expect to wear the watch.
  • Confirm the product page’s price and order status directly, since variant prices and stock change.
  • The 20 mm lug width makes compatible aftermarket straps a possible option; fit and suitability depend on the strap and spring bars.

For maintenance, overhaul, or restoration, Atelier Jacques Bianchi says it provides JB200 service from its Marseille atelier (Atelier Jacques Bianchi).
