The Seiko Prospex SPB333J1 is a 5,000-piece Save the Ocean limited-edition automatic diver, announced for release in January 2023 as part of Seiko’s 110th-anniversary collection. Its defining details are a glacier-inspired textured dial, a 41 mm steel case, a 200 m diver’s rating and an approximately 70-hour power reserve. Seiko supplied it with both a five-row steel bracelet and an additional strap made from recycled plastic-bottle material.

What is the Seiko Prospex SPB333J1?

Seiko introduced the SPB333 as a Prospex Save the Ocean Limited Edition. The model appears as SPB333J1 on Seiko’s regional product pages. Seiko announced a worldwide limited edition of 5,000, with availability beginning in January 2023 at Seiko boutiques and selected retailers. That edition size does not establish how many watches remain available today.

The watch’s silvery-white dial has a textured surface that Seiko says is inspired by polar glaciers. Its case design draws on the 1968 Seiko 6105-8000 diver, including a curved silhouette and a crown positioned at four o’clock. Those are the manufacturer’s stated design references, rather than independent assessments of the watch’s historical lineage.

Seiko SPB333J1 specifications

Specification Seiko’s stated detail
Movement Automatic caliber 6R35; manual winding is also listed on Seiko’s Philippines product page; 24 jewels
Frequency 21,600 vibrations per hour
Power reserve Approximately 70 hours
Case Stainless steel; 41.0 mm diameter; 12.3 mm thick
Lug-to-lug 46.9 mm, listed on Seiko’s Philippines product page
Crystal Curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface
Water resistance 200 m / 660 ft diver’s rating
Lug spacing 20 mm, listed on Seiko’s Philippines product page
Magnetic resistance 4,800 A/m, listed on Seiko’s Philippines product page
Lume LumiBrite on the hands, indices and bezel, listed on Seiko’s Philippines product page
Bracelet clasp Secure-lock clasp with extender

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements or test results. The 200 m diver’s rating describes Seiko’s stated water-resistance classification; it is not evidence of a water test on an individual watch.

How the SPB333J1 wears on paper

The 41 mm diameter and 12.3 mm thickness offer a useful starting point for judging fit, but case dimensions alone cannot establish comfort or how the watch will sit on a particular wrist. Seiko lists a 46.9 mm lug-to-lug measurement on its Philippines product page. If wrist fit is a priority, compare that figure and the case profile with a watch you already wear, or try the SPB333J1 on in person.

The 20 mm lug spacing, also listed on the Philippines page, is a reference for strap width—not a guarantee that every aftermarket strap will fit. Strap-end shape and thickness can affect compatibility.

Bracelet and included recycled-material strap

The package includes a five-row stainless-steel bracelet and a second strap made from recycled plastic-bottle material. The extra strap gives the buyer an alternative to the bracelet without requiring an immediate accessory purchase. Seiko’s announcement identifies the recycled material but does not establish how either option feels in use or how the bracelet articulates.

Movement and power reserve

Seiko specifies its automatic 6R35 caliber, with manual winding and 24 jewels listed on its Philippines page. The stated frequency is 21,600 vibrations per hour, and the approximate power reserve is 70 hours. That reserve is a manufacturer figure; actual running time can vary with winding and use, and no independent timing or reserve test is established here.

Price, edition size and availability

Prices shown on official Seiko pages vary by market. At the time those pages were checked, Seiko’s Philippines page displayed PHP 76,090, while Seiko Boutique Europe displayed €1,400. These are regional page prices, not a universal current price; product pages can change, and a displayed price does not confirm stock.

Before buying, verify the seller’s authorization, the watch’s condition, the applicable warranty, the return policy and whether the watch is actually in stock in your market. Seiko’s announcement confirms a 5,000-piece edition, but does not say how many remain unsold or establish the SPB333J1’s current secondary-market value.

Is the Seiko SPB333J1 worth buying?

It merits consideration if you want a steel Prospex diver with a 41 mm case, a manufacturer-rated 200 m diver’s specification, a long stated reserve and a distinctive pale, glacier-inspired dial. Its anniversary-edition status and two included wearing options are further points to weigh. Whether it is worth the asking price depends on the price and warranty available in your region, your preference for the dial and case design, and how the dimensions fit you.

Official specifications cannot answer practical questions such as daily accuracy, comfort, bezel feel, lume duration or bracelet fit. If those details matter to your decision, seek an in-person try-on or a clearly documented independent review rather than treating the manufacturer’s figures as test results.
