Jaeger-LeCoultre Le Chalet is a restored 19th-century alpine farm building in the Vallée de Joux, now used as a guest venue for visitors invited by the Manufacture. It is not the watchmaking Manufacture, nor is it presented as a hotel or restaurant open for public bookings.
What is Jaeger-LeCoultre Le Chalet?
Le Chalet is a former chalet d’alpage—a traditional alpine farm building—at Les Chaumilles, on the western side of Mont Tendre. At 1,360 metres, it looks out over Le Sentier and Lac de Joux. The building belongs to the commune of Le Chenit; Jaeger-LeCoultre partnered with the commune on its restoration. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 2025 announcement describes Les Chaumilles as a name linked to a local dialect word for a small grazing area.
The setting is part of the story: meadow, limestone lapiaz and pine forest surround the building. Historically, cattle were moved from the valley to high summer pastures, and milk and cheese were processed at the chalet. The site therefore reflects the agricultural life of the Vallée de Joux, rather than watchmaking alone.
How has the former farm been restored?
The original building housed a stable, a barn and a space for making cheese. The restoration adapts these working rooms for hospitality while retaining traditional features and original wood.

How is Le Chalet connected to Jaeger-LeCoultre?
Le Chalet is connected to the brand through its location, restoration partnership and role as a venue for invited guests. It is less than a 10-minute drive from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Manufacture in Le Sentier, according to the Maison. The two places have different functions: the chalet is a former alpine farm adapted for guest gatherings; the Manufacture is the watchmaking site.

The broader regional link is historical. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s account of the Vallée describes summer alpine farming and dairy, alongside winter metalworking in chalets. The company’s official history dates Antoine LeCoultre’s first watchmaking atelier in the valley to 1833. These regional traditions help explain the setting around the Manufacture, but they do not establish that this particular chalet was ever used for watchmaking. See the Valley of Inventions and the official Jaeger-LeCoultre history.
Can you visit Le Chalet?
Jaeger-LeCoultre says Le Chalet is reserved for visitors invited by the Manufacture. Its public announcement does not give general visitor eligibility, a public booking route or prices. It should not be treated as a publicly bookable hotel, restaurant or tourist attraction. For access, visitors would need to be invited by the Manufacture; the available announcement does not set out another route.

What was served at Le Chalet during Watches and Wonders 2026?
For Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, Jaeger-LeCoultre described a Made of Makers collaboration at Le Chalet with Swiss chef Gilles Varone, identified by the Maison as a two-Michelin-starred chef. The event featured an unconventional fine-cheese tasting built around Vallée de Joux cheeses and local ingredients such as pine, honey and mountain herbs.
The four compositions named for that event were Perle d’Hiver, Macaron Forestier, Quiche du Chalet and Coeur de Neige. This was dated event programming, not evidence of a standing menu or an offering currently available to visitors. Details appear in the Maison’s 2026 Valley of Inventions account.
