The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 “Meteorite” (reference Q5032441) is an eight-piece, high-complication watch announced in 2019. Its defining features are a two-axis Gyrotourbillon, an integrated monopusher chronograph with an instant-jumping digital minute counter, and meteorite inlay across the dial and movement. It is a rare collector piece, not a practical everyday-watch recommendation; there are no hands-on findings or independent timekeeping measurements to support claims about its performance in wear.
Which Gyrotourbillon 3 is this?
The Q5032441 is the 2019 “Meteorite” edition of the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3, limited to eight pieces. Jaeger-LeCoultre says the original Gyrotourbillon 3 debuted in 2013 for the Maison’s 180th anniversary; the Meteorite is a later edition, not the original Jubilee model. The distinction matters because the reference and its meteorite craft details belong specifically to Q5032441. Jaeger-LeCoultre announced the Meteorite on 3 October 2019.

How does the Gyrotourbillon work?
A conventional tourbillon rotates its regulating organ around one axis. Jaeger-LeCoultre describes its Gyrotourbillon as rotating on two planes, with the aim of limiting gravity’s effects on the regulator. In Q5032441, two cages are set at different angles and rotate in opposite directions at different speeds, with a blued spherical balance spring at their centre. The maker’s 2019 release puts it this way: “Exceedingly rare and complex, this multi-axis tourbillon comprises two cages, set at two different angles, turning opposite directions, at different speeds, with a blued spherical balance spring beating like a heart in their centre.”
The cages are cantilevered rather than held by a tourbillon bridge, giving the mechanism a suspended appearance. The multi-axis construction is an ambitious piece of watchmaking, but Jaeger-LeCoultre’s gravity-related rationale is design intent, not evidence of a measured accuracy advantage in this particular watch. No independent comparative accuracy result for Q5032441 is established here.

What does the chronograph display?
Manually wound Calibre 176 combines the Gyrotourbillon with a monopusher chronograph. Chronograph seconds appear on a conventional round dial, while elapsed minutes are shown by an instantaneously jumping digital counter. The movement also provides hours and minutes and a day/night indication. The digital counter is a distinctive display choice; without hands-on testing, it is not possible to judge how easy the chronograph is to operate or read in everyday use.
What makes the Meteorite edition distinctive?
The dial brings together meteorite, aventurine, white grand feu enamel, hand-guilloché work and engraving. Jaeger-LeCoultre identifies the meteorite as Gibeon iron-nickel octahedrite from Namibia. The material is not confined to the dial: the maker says meteorite inlay also appears on movement plates and bridges, fitted flush into carefully hollowed German-silver surfaces. These are manufacturer-reported materials and techniques, rather than details independently inspected for this review.
An open caseback exposes the decorated movement and its suspended-looking tourbillon assembly. Together with the elaborate dial, the inlay makes this edition as much a display of decorative craft as a showcase for a complex regulator.

How to assess it as a watch
Q5032441 is best understood as an exceptionally scarce horological and decorative object. The two-plane tourbillon and integrated chronograph give it substantial mechanical complexity, while the meteorite, aventurine and enamel work make the specific edition visually distinct. Its 43.5 mm case and 15.8 mm thickness are substantial dimensions, and the 45-hour reserve means it is not a long-running watch between windings. Whether its scale, display and operation suit an owner cannot be settled from specifications alone.
This is not a conventional buying recommendation: the eight-piece limit and historical USD 550,000 listing place it in a rare-collector context, and that old figure should not be treated as a current asking price. The available sources provide neither a present market quote nor independent timing, wear, or service-cost evidence. For an informed purchase, the relevant checks would be the individual watch’s provenance, condition, service history and a current specialist valuation—not an assumption based on its 2019 listed price.
