What are Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 2025 Master tourbillon novelties?
The four watches differ less by the presence of a tourbillon than by what they ask it to do alongside the rest of the movement. Calibre 985 prioritizes calendar information; Calibre 948 links a rotating tourbillon to world time; the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel foregrounds dial craft; and Calibre 945 combines celestial timekeeping with chiming.

Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985: calendar information and moon phase
Announced on 1 September 2025, Calibre 985 combines a cylindrical flying tourbillon with a perpetual calendar and moon-phase display. Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced three interpretations: two platinum versions with blue dials—one with a polished bezel and one with a diamond-set bezel—and an 18-karat pink-gold version with a brown dial. The references are Q5246580, Q5246508 and Q5242461. The case measures 42 mm across and 13.27 mm thick.

The brand says the moon-phase display requires no adjustment for 122 years. It also specifies a 431-part movement and an 83-component flying tourbillon weighing 0.386 grams. These are Jaeger-LeCoultre’s published technical figures, not independent measurements. The release lists 5 bar water resistance. Its rendered power-reserve specification is malformed, so a reliable figure cannot be quoted here.

Master Grande Tradition Calibre 948: world time around a 24-hour tourbillon
The 2025 Calibre 948 is the travel-oriented option. Its automatic movement combines world time with a Universal Tourbillon that makes one rotation around the dial every 24 hours. Jaeger-LeCoultre describes it as the first combination of a world-time complication and a flying tourbillon. The 18-karat pink-gold watch, reference Q52824E2, measures 43 mm across and 14.13 mm thick, and is limited to 20 pieces.
For a destination change, the crown synchronizes the world-time display. The local hour hand can then be advanced or moved back in one-hour jumps while the minutes and seconds continue running. The dial pairs blue translucent lacquer with wavy guilloché and a domed skeleton structure decorated in champlevé enamel. Jaeger-LeCoultre lists 388 movement components and a 48-hour power reserve.

Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel: the dial is the focus
This 2025 interpretation puts traditional dial work at the center. Its 18-karat pink-gold case frames an anthracite-grey Grand Feu enamel dial with a hand-guilloché sunray pattern, and it is limited to 50 pieces. The watch uses the latest generation of Calibre 978; the manufacturer says its tourbillon weighs less than half a gram.

The dial’s 180 sunrays each required six passes on a hand-operated rose-engine lathe, for a total of 1,080 lines. The date subdial is also hand-guilloché, in a circular pattern. Those craft details distinguish it from the more information-dense calendar and world-time models.

Master Hybris Artistica Calibre 945: sky chart, sidereal time and chiming
Calibre 945 is the most explicitly astronomical of the four. It combines a real-time Northern Hemisphere sky chart based on the view from the Vallée de Joux, a minute repeater, and a flying Cosmotourbillon that displays sidereal time. Jaeger-LeCoultre describes the repeater’s construction as using cathedral crystal gongs, trébuchet hammers and a silent governor.
Sidereal time tracks Earth’s rotation relative to distant stars rather than the Sun. Jaeger-LeCoultre gives a sidereal day as 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds, compared with the 24-hour solar day used for civil time. That difference is central to the watch’s astronomical display; it is not simply another way to show local clock time.

How to choose between the four
- Choose the Calibre 985 for calendar and lunar information: it combines a perpetual calendar and moon phase with a cylindrical flying tourbillon, in three metal-and-dial executions.
- Choose the Calibre 948 for travel functions: it adds world time and a tourbillon that rotates around the dial once every 24 hours, with a one-hour local-time adjustment method.
- Choose the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel for dial craft: Grand Feu enamel and hand-guilloché are its defining visual features.
- Choose the Calibre 945 for astronomical display and sound: its sky chart, sidereal-time Cosmotourbillon and minute repeater set it apart from the other three.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s releases provide technical specifications and, for the Calibre 948 and Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel, limited-edition sizes. They do not establish current prices or stock by market, and their figures are manufacturer claims rather than independent comparative test results.
