The Kallinich Claeys EINSER Zentralsekunde is a limited-production mechanical watch built around two unusual choices: its power-reserve mechanism can be seen through a sapphire window in the case flank, and its manually wound KC001.1 movement brings seconds to the dial’s center with additional gearing. It is the first collection from the independent Glashütte maker, founded in 2022 by former A. Lange & Söhne watchmakers Johannes Kallinich and Thibault Claeys.
What does “Zentralsekunde” mean?
“Zentralsekunde” is German for “central seconds”: the seconds hand rotates from the center of the dial rather than from a small subdial. In the EINSER, that familiar display required a less conventional movement layout, making the name a concise description of one of the watch’s principal technical features.
Kallinich Claeys describes EINSER as the beginning of its watchmaking story. Its official pages say the EINSER Zentralsekunde was developed in 2022. The maker’s design aim pairs traditional finishing with a more contemporary visual language; its homepage also now mentions an EINSER Voyager in white gold, a separate model that should not be confused with the original steel Zentralsekunde. Why is the case-side power reserve unusual?
The power reserve is shown both from the movement back and through a curved sapphire window on the side of the case. That flank aperture exposes part of the indicator mechanism, so the display is visible from an angle rather than only when looking directly at the dial or through the back. It is a functional feature integrated into the case, not simply another dial-side gauge.

The company calls the side-visible arrangement a “world first.” That is the manufacturer’s claim; it has not been independently established as a universal first. The watch’s more directly demonstrable distinction is the placement itself: a sapphire case-side window makes the power-reserve mechanism visible while the wearer winds the watch. How does the KC001.1 create central seconds?

The added seconds train
Revolution Watch explains that the fourth wheel is positioned at six o’clock, while an additional gear train above the barrel bridge carries the seconds indication to the center. The added train is driven from the fourth wheel, where torque is lower. That arrangement can leave the central seconds hand susceptible to flutter caused by gear backlash.
A spring to steady the hand
To address that tendency, a thin tension spring sits beneath the central-seconds shaft and helps keep the hand stable. The solution illustrates the trade-off in the architecture: the watch gains a central seconds display without simply placing the seconds wheel at the center, but the extra gearing calls for a stabilizing measure. What are the case, dial, and finishing details?
The standard steel EINSER measures 41 mm across, 11 mm thick, and 48.5 mm from lug to lug. The official specification lists a double anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Its dial is composed in layers: an outer chapter ring with minute markings and Roman numerals, a hand-finished guilloché center, and an eccentric ring with tremblage engraving.
The three-dimensional, drop-shaped hands have polished and straight-grained surfaces. Revolution Watch describes the dial as a chapter ring, central disc, and offset insert, and attributes the engraving to Helmut Wagner, a master engraver and former head of engraving at A. Lange & Söhne. It also reports that specialist suppliers, mainly in Germany, contributed to the case and dial finishing.

For the movement, Kallinich Claeys describes open German-silver bridges, sandblasted surfaces, 18-karat gold chatons, highly polished bevels, 19 hand-cut sharp internal angles, and a hand-engraved balance cock carrying a “shark gill” motif. The standard and Founders editions together account for 30 watches, matching Deutsche Handwerks Zeitung’s 2024 report that the initial series had sold out. Availability and what the published price means
As of the official pages accessed in 2026, the standard, Founders, and Hongkong editions are each identified as sold out. That status does not establish whether a dealer or private seller has a piece, what a current secondary-market price might be, or whether the brand plans another production run. The standard page’s €24,900 excluding VAT and the Hongkong page’s HKD 298,000 / EUR 34,400 excluding VAT are published original prices, not evidence of present availability or transaction value.
