Ketelaars Watches is an independent Dutch brand founded by Stefan Ketelaars in 2017. Its signature idea is to make mechanical motion part of the display: an exposed balance wheel, regulator-style time indication and a miniature Earth that turns once every 24 hours. The current collection also lists Terra Luna, which adds a 29.5-day moon display, and 3D Terra Nova. The brand describes the latter two as due later in the year, but publishes no calendar launch date or confirmation that either is currently orderable.
Who is Stefan Ketelaars?
Stefan Ketelaars founded his eponymous watch brand in 2017, according to Monochrome Watches’ 2019 profile. The brand’s terms identify Ketelaars Watches as owned by Stefan Ketelaars and located in Valkenswaard, Netherlands: Ketelaars Watches’ terms and conditions.
That 2019 profile portrayed Ketelaars as a mostly self-taught watchmaker working on design, component manufacture and finishing, and final assembly, with help from colleagues in the Dutch watchmaking community. It also described workshop equipment at the time. Those details offer a picture of the brand’s early, small-scale practice, not a verified account of the current workshop.
The through-line is a personal approach paired with conspicuous complications. In an older interview with WahaWatches, Ketelaars described his style as “new avant-garde” rather than steampunk, with vintage influences and inventive details.

What is the 3D Terra in Motion?
The 3D Terra in Motion makes the mechanics and the passage of time visible from the dial side. The current official collection page describes the Signature Edition as using an ETA Caliber 6497, with a visible balance wheel, a flying regulator subdial and a hand-engraved, hand-painted miniature Earth that rotates once every 24 hours: Ketelaars Watches’ collection page.
The miniature globe is a visual day-and-night indicator: its rotation tracks a 24-hour cycle. It is not a second time zone or a conventional world-time display. The balance wheel adds another layer of visible motion, while the regulator-style arrangement separates the time indication into a distinct subdial.
A specific earlier version helps explain the design’s mechanics, but should not be confused with every current Signature Edition. In its March 2020 report, SJX Watches described the 3D Terra in Motion with Reverse Balance as based on a modified Unitas 6497, with the balance assembly inverted to the dial side and an additional gear train for the time display and globe. That report listed a 42 mm steel case, 13.5 mm thickness, 30 m water resistance, hand-wound movement and 46-hour power reserve for that version. These are historical specifications for the Reverse Balance model, not confirmed specifications for all Signature Edition watches.
What models does Ketelaars list?
The official collection names three models. Its page labels Terra Luna and 3D Terra Nova “to be released later this year”; it does not give a calendar date. That wording is not confirmation of a launch or current order availability.

Terra Luna combines the brand’s rotating Earth with a miniature moon whose full rotation takes 29.5 days, according to the official Terra Luna page. The page lists sapphire crystals on the front and case back, a 39 mm case and a height of 9.8 mm.
Ketelaars describes Terra Luna’s movement as developed and manufactured in-house. Its published specifications are manual winding, 33.3 mm diameter, 31 jewels and a 46-hour power reserve. These are brand-stated figures, not independently tested results; the extent of in-house component production is not independently established here.

The brand’s production-process page describes box-shaped sapphire crystals, hand-engraved and hand-painted miniature globes, and hand-finished details. For the 3D Terra in Motion Signature Edition, it says the ETA 6497 movements receive work including refinishing bridges and plates, with surface-treatment options. The brand also says its watch boxes are handmade in collaboration with a woodworking artisan. These are the maker’s descriptions of its production.

For historical context, Monochrome’s 2019 account documented an atelier with machining and watchmaking equipment and described Ketelaars’ involvement in making and finishing parts. That report should not be read as a current inventory of the workshop or proof that every component is made in-house.
How much does a Ketelaars watch cost?
The current official pages reviewed do not publish a model-by-model price list. SJX reported a starting price of €5,800 before taxes in March 2020 for the specific 3D Terra in Motion with Reverse Balance, and said it was directly available at that time. That historical figure is not a current price and should not be applied to the Signature Edition, Terra Luna or Terra Nova.
How do you order a Ketelaars watch?
The Terra Luna page invites prospective buyers to contact the brand for ordering details. The brand’s terms, last updated July 18, 2023, describe the process as follows: discuss the model and options by email; once a configuration is agreed, the brand sends an invoice for 40% of the watch amount; payment makes the order binding. The terms also say offers are non-binding until that payment and that product availability is not guaranteed. Since the terms are dated and the model pages do not establish current stock, confirm the present process, price, availability and delivery timing directly with Ketelaars before committing.
