The Seiko Presage Blue Enamel Limited Edition is the SPB069, listed by Seiko under reference SPB069J1. Its defining feature is a deep blue enamel dial paired with a gold-colored crescent at the end of the seconds hand. The hands-on impressions below are Michael Stockton’s account of a pre-production example he handled and photographed at a Seiko Boutique in Frankfurt on 23 September 2017—not a current test or a claim of personal handling.
What the SPB069 is—and when it was released
Seiko announced the SPB069 on 7 December 2017 as a Presage limited edition of 1,500 pieces. The company said it would be available through selected elite retail partners in December, with a worldwide release planned for early 2018. Those are launch details, not confirmation that a new or pre-owned example is available today. Seiko’s announcement gives the edition size and release timing in its 2017 launch release; the official SPB069J1 product page identifies the model.
The launch release listed an approximate European recommended retail price of €1,150. Fratello reported a German launch price of €1,100. These are different historical figures with different geographic framing, not current market valuations.
Why the dial and crescent stand out
Seiko describes the watch as a moonlit-night design: the deep blue enamel dial evokes the night sky, while a gold-colored crescent detail at the reverse end of the seconds hand represents the moon. A crescent accent also appears on the sapphire exhibition case back. The hour-marker shape draws on Seiko’s first pocket watch, the Time Keeper, made in 1895.

The enamel is central to the model’s identity, and Seiko credits craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team with making the dial. Seiko says enamel’s viscosity makes it difficult to achieve an even surface; production conditions can require adjusting the composition to atmospheric conditions. Yokosawa supervises and inspects each Presage dial, according to the company. Seiko also notes that the glaze contains glass, so subtle contours or tiny dimples can give individual dials distinct surface appearances. These are the maker’s descriptions of its process, rather than independent assessments.
What the 2017 hands-on report noticed
In his account, Michael Stockton described the dial as semi-shiny in ordinary viewing and slightly matte when seen from a favorable angle. He noted how the surface contours around the date window, and how the white Roman numerals and hands contrast with the blue. Those impressions come from his examination of a pre-production watch in Frankfurt on 23 September 2017; they should not be read as findings from a current production example.

Stockton considered the 12.4 mm case thickness manageable, though not especially slim. He also wondered how the deployant buckle would sit on a smaller wrist. That is one reviewer’s fit impression, not a universal judgment: wrist shape and personal comfort can change how a watch and clasp wear.
