The 2025 Kollokium Projekt 01 Variant F turns its dial into the watch’s main event: 488 violet-emitting luminous pins form a sculptural surface, rather than serving as small markers on a conventional face. The design comes with familiar mechanical-watch specifications—a 40 mm steel case, an automatic La Joux-Perret movement and 50 m water resistance—and a limited production run of 399 pieces.
A dial built from 488 luminous elements
The Variant F is an evolution of Kollokium’s Projekt 01, which began in late 2023. Kollokium, founded in 2020 by Manuel Emch, Barth Nussbaumer and Amr Sindi, is described by Monochrome as a project platform rather than a conventional watch brand. Variant F was reported as the project’s first major evolution since its “Friends, Family & Fools” edition.
Instead of a flat dial with applied indices, the face is composed of 488 cylindrical pins made from Lichtblock, a ceramic-resin or ceramic-hybrid material infused with violet-emission Super-LumiNova. The pins come in six sizes and are arranged in varied patterns, giving the dial depth and an irregular, architectural appearance. The hour and minute hands also have luminous inserts.
Monochrome reports Kollokium’s comparison that the pins contain an amount of lume equivalent to that used across 500 traditional dials. That is a maker-attributed comparison of material quantity—not a claim that the watch is 500 times brighter, a measured glow duration, or an independently verified photometric result. Chronopassion describes the pins as hand-assembled and says a misaligned pin requires the assembly to be restarted; this is the retailer’s account of the process.

Case and everyday specifications
The two-part case is reported as die-cast 316L stainless steel, not machined. It measures 40 mm across and 11.95 mm tall according to Monochrome and SJX; Chronopassion rounds the height to 11.9 mm. A box-style sapphire crystal covers the dial. Other reported details include a solid caseback, a valve-style crown and 50 m water resistance. SJX notes that the earlier Projekt 01 was rated to 30 m, so the Variant F has a higher stated rating.

Movement and strap
Inside is an automatic La Joux-Perret G101, reported with a 68-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Published movement dimensions are 26 mm by 4.45 mm, with 24 jewels. The movement is unbranded and hidden behind the solid caseback.
The watch is fitted with a single-piece elastic textile strap in a warm grey or anthracite tone, with a die-cast steel hook closure and stitched loops. Sources vary in their color naming. The reviewed product information does not establish a standalone strap size or replacement compatibility.

Production, launch price and availability
Kollokium limited the Variant F to 399 pieces. Monochrome reported online sales beginning 11 June 2025 at 15:00 CET, alongside distribution through select retailers. The launch price reported by Monochrome and SJX was CHF 3,666.66 excluding VAT.
As of 8 October 2026, Chronopassion’s product page lists the watch at €4,700 including tax and marks it sold out. That is one retailer’s listing, not a universal market price or evidence of current stock elsewhere. Kollokium’s official website, accessed the same day, promotes the later Projekt 01 Variant H and marks that offering sold out; it does not establish Variant F availability. These listings do not show that Variant F remains available new from Kollokium, nor do they establish a resale value.

How to assess Variant F against another design-led watch
The meaningful comparison is not simply whether another watch also uses lume. Consider how the material shapes the dial and whether the display remains legible, then compare the practical specification and buying context:
- Dial and legibility: material, lume layout, hand treatment and how easily the time can be read.
- Case: diameter, height, material, crystal and water-resistance rating.
- Movement: calibre, frequency and stated power reserve.
- Wear: strap construction and closure, as well as the dimensions that affect fit.
- Production and access: edition limit, current availability and whether a listing is a retailer’s individual status.
- Price basis: launch price versus a current listing, and whether tax is included.
The published specifications support a factual comparison on those points, but they do not provide a controlled, head-to-head performance test. The Variant F’s strongest distinction is its dial concept; its reported movement, case size and water resistance remain straightforward specifications to weigh alongside that design.
