La Joux-Perret is a Swiss movement manufacturer, not just a watch brand, and its G100 is a useful caliber to compare with familiar ETA and Sellita alternatives. The G100 is specified at 4 Hz with a 68-hour power reserve, but those figures alone do not establish that it is better—or that a finished watch using it is better. The caliber, its grade and regulation, service arrangements, and the complete watch all matter.
What is La Joux-Perret?
La Joux-Perret makes movements and components at its manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company describes capabilities spanning technical development, laboratory work, methods, component production and decoration. It supplies Citizen-associated brands as well as customers outside Citizen Group, and offers customization of mechanisms, decoration, bridges and performance requirements. Citizen Group acquired La Joux-Perret in 2012. That ownership does not make every La Joux-Perret caliber interchangeable with, or identical to, a Citizen-Miyota movement; comparisons should be made between specific calibers and finished watches.

The G100 is an automatic three-hand caliber. Chrono24’s October 25, 2024 feature reports a frequency of 4 Hz and a power reserve of 68 hours, and describes it as dimensionally compatible with the ETA 2824-2 and Sellita SW200. Those are useful points of comparison, not a guarantee that it is a drop-in replacement in every watch. Chrono24’s G100 overview

Before treating those movements as interchangeable, a watchmaker needs to verify the exact reference and installation requirements, including case fit, dial and date position, stem height, hands, movement grade and any brand-specific modifications. A watch’s technical sheet or its manufacturer is a better guide to the movement actually fitted than a broad caliber comparison.
One documented example is the Frédérique Constant Classics Premiere, which Chrono24 identifies as using the G100. Check the exact watch reference and market listing when comparing models; the caliber name should be confirmed for the particular watch, not inferred from the collection name.

La Joux-Perret vs. ETA and Sellita
These names do not describe three directly comparable products. La Joux-Perret, ETA and Sellita are movement suppliers with ranges of calibers; any meaningful mechanical comparison has to be caliber against caliber. ETA is part of Swatch Group, and its official history traces the company’s institutional origin to a workshop opened in Fontainemelon in 1793. The G100’s reported reserve is longer than a conventional two-day reserve, which can be convenient if a watch is set aside over a weekend. It is not a standalone quality score: regulation, accuracy in the finished watch, construction, durability and serviceability are separate questions. No comparative reliability, production or market-share figures are established here.

How ownership and supply relationships are changing
In a November 12, 2025 announcement, Citizen identified La Joux-Perret as a Citizen subsidiary and said LVMH was investing in the company. Citizen also said La Joux-Perret had supplied high-precision solar-quartz movements to TAG Heuer and Tiffany & Co. since 2022, with the relationship set to extend to additional LVMH watch brands. The announcement does not disclose LVMH’s investment percentage, so it does not support describing LVMH as La Joux-Perret’s sole owner. Citizen’s November 12, 2025 announcement
The solar-quartz relationship is distinct from the G100 comparison: it shows that La Joux-Perret’s work for outside brands is not limited to mechanical automatics. LVMH Watch Division CEO Jean-Christophe Babin described the partnership as combining technical and industrial expertise with solar energy, and called the aim “sustainable high-precision watch movements.” Those are his characterizations in the announcement, not independently measured performance findings.

What to check before buying a watch with a La Joux-Perret movement
- Exact movement: Ask for the caliber and grade fitted to the precise reference. A manufacturer’s range is not a specification for every model.
- Regulation and testing: Find out whether the watch brand adjusts or tests the movement, and what accuracy standard it states for the finished watch.
- Service and parts: Ask the brand or an authorized service center in your country who can service the watch, whether parts are available locally and where warranty work is handled. The supplier name alone does not establish access.
- Integration and modifications: Check whether the movement is modified and whether that affects service procedures or parts. Do not assume dimensional compatibility means universal interchangeability.
- Whole-watch value: Compare the actual watch’s case, dial, finishing, warranty, support and price. Movement reputation is only one part of the purchase.
What the available headcounts do—and do not—show
La Joux-Perret’s company page lists 120 collaborators, while Citizen Watch Co., Ltd.’s 2025 material gives a figure of around 140 people. The sources differ in wording and date context, so the numbers should not be combined into a single definitive current headcount. Neither figure establishes production volume, reliability, market share or competitive scale.
