The Laco Kiel.2 is a large, automatic pilot chronograph with a 43 mm case, a Sellita-based movement, and several dial and bracelet choices. Its published specifications and regional prices make it possible to assess what the watch offers—but they do not establish how it performs on the wrist, keeps time, or fares in water. This guide separates Laco’s specifications from the features and impressions reported in Monochrome’s earlier hands-on article.
What the Kiel.2 is—and what “hands-on” means here
The Kiel.2 is Laco’s automatic pilot chronograph family, not an older Kiel reference. Laco currently presents black, white, and blue dial options, with leather-strap and metal-bracelet configurations. The official Kiel.2 collection page and Schwarz product listing are the best places to confirm the exact variant and what is included.
The phrase “brutally honest” comes from the title of Monochrome Watches’ earlier hands-on article. It is not evidence of a new wrist test here. No independent timing, power-reserve, or water-resistance testing is established by the available information.
How large is the Kiel.2, and how might it fit?
Laco lists a 43 mm case diameter and 14 mm height for the collection. The Schwarz listing adds a 51.5 mm lug-to-lug length and 22 mm lug width. Lug-to-lug distance is worth checking alongside diameter if you have a smaller wrist or prefer compact watches: the case has a substantial footprint on paper. Those numbers cannot determine how it will sit on an individual wrist, and no new wrist impression is available.

What movement and functions does it have?
Laco’s automatic Laco 500 is based on the Swiss Sellita SW500. The manufacturer describes it as Elaboré quality, with an optional Top grade upgrade, and states a power reserve of at least 56 hours. The Schwarz listing specifies 25 jewels. These are published specifications, not independently measured performance figures.
Monochrome’s article describes central hour and minute hands, small seconds, central chronograph seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, and day and date displays. Check the exact listing for the configuration you are considering. Laco’s current listing offers a date-disc selection; Monochrome’s report of an English-language replacement option and its historical price should not be taken as current upgrade pricing.

What are the case, crystal, and water-resistance specifications?
- Crystal: Laco specifies anti-reflective sapphire on the front and a sapphire display back.
- Luminous material: Super-LumiNova C3 is listed for selected dial elements and hands.
- Water resistance: Laco specifies 10 ATM. That is a manufacturer rating, not a claim of independently tested performance or a guarantee that a particular activity is suitable.
Laco says the automatic chronograph caliber can be viewed through the sapphire caseback. The display back makes the movement visible, while the sapphire crystals and stated water resistance are part of the watch’s published specification set.
Which dial and bracelet configuration should you compare?
The collection page describes black Schwarz and white Weiss options; Laco’s product listings and related Kiel collection material also identify a blue version. The Schwarz listing shows a black calf-leather strap with rivets and offers a Kiel.2 metal bracelet alternative. Confirm the exact reference, included strap or bracelet, clasp, and live options on the page for the version you want; the 22 mm lug width is the listed size for strap compatibility.

How much does the Laco Kiel.2 cost?
Prices vary by region and configuration. At the time the listings were checked, Laco’s US Schwarz listing displayed US$2,770 for the leather-strap version, excluding VAT and shipping; metal-bracelet variants displayed US$2,890. For value, weigh the configuration you will actually buy against the Laco 500 movement grade, 43 mm case dimensions, sapphire construction, and 10 ATM specification. The available information does not establish comparative service costs or tested accuracy, so those cannot be used to make a verified performance or ownership-cost comparison.
