Patek Philippe’s Milan exhibition was the week’s biggest watch story: the brand reportedly unveiled seven limited editions, led by a 120-piece platinum perpetual-calendar chronograph. The other standout was Casio’s G-Shock MR-G MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire, a reported 20-piece digital watch with a sapphire exterior and an $80,000 price. Here are those releases and the other launches in Matthew De Jesus’s Oct. 5, 2026, Revolution Watch roundup. Product details and prices below are attributed to that secondary-source report.
Patek Philippe’s Milan exhibition brings seven limited editions
For the opening of its Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Milan, Patek Philippe announced seven limited editions, according to the roundup. Its reported centerpiece is the platinum Ref. 5978P-010, produced in 120 pieces. It brings a manually wound chronograph together with an instantaneous perpetual calendar, putting a substantial mechanical complication at the center of the exhibition line.
Ref. 5978P-010: a platinum perpetual-calendar chronograph
The report describes a 42 mm case in 950 platinum, a navy sunburst dial, and a navy fabric-pattern composite strap. The manually wound CH 29-535 PS QI caliber is reported to provide a 55–65-hour power reserve. Its functions include an instantaneous 30-minute counter, day, date, month and leap-year indications, day/night indication, and moon phase. Reported water resistance is 30 m.
The roundup identifies six other Patek limited editions: an Aquanaut, a Calatrava, a perpetual calendar, a minute repeater, and two cloisonné-enamel World Time minute repeaters depicting Milan by day and night. It does not provide full specifications or individual references for these six, so their identities are the extent of the detail reported.

- TOUGH SOLAR — CHARGED BY SUN & INDOOR LIGHT, NO BATTERY SWAPS — Casio's solar-recharging system converts even faint light from fluorescent lamps into ample energy to achieve stable operation of various high-load functions. A battery power indicator clearly shows the battery level, and a power saving mode prolongs battery life — storing up to 10 months of charge without further light exposure. Eco-friendly, low-maintenance, and always ready.
- ANALOG-DIGITAL DUO DISPLAY WITH 6-LANGUAGE DAY INDICATOR — The sporty analog-digital combination display features a 6-language day of the week indicator supporting English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, and Italian — a practical multilingual feature for international travelers and global professionals. Analog hands show current time while the digital LCD displays date, day, and function data simultaneously.
- DUAL COUNTDOWN TIMERS — BUILT FOR INTERVAL TRAINING — Two independent countdown timers can be used during interval training that alternates between two different paces, with a measuring unit of 1 second, an input range of 00'05" to 99'55" in 1-minute and 5-second increments, and repeats settable from 1 to 10. A feature rarely found at this price point — purpose-built for athletes and coaches.
- 1/100-SECOND STOPWATCH | 5 ALARMS | 31-ZONE WORLD TIME — The 1/100-second stopwatch covers elapsed time, lap time, and split time up to 59'59.99". World time spans 48 cities, and 5 alarms make this a versatile timepiece for almost any sport outing. An hourly time signal and full auto-calendar with DST on/off round out a complete everyday feature set.
- 42MM MINERAL GLASS CASE | 33G | 100M WATER RESISTANT — With dimensions of 47.6 × 42 × 10.6mm and weighing just 33 grams, the AQ-S800W is lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear. Mineral glass protects the dial and the watch is water resistant to 10 ATM, suitable for swimming. A screw-back caseback and LED light with afterglow complete a well-built, practical package.
Six Gondolo Ladies First quartz models
Alongside the seven exhibition editions, Patek introduced six Gondolo Ladies First quartz watches inspired by its 2009 Ladies First Chronograph. The report gives their cushion-shaped cases as 31 × 34.8 mm and says the references span white gold, rose gold, and white-and-rose gold.
Three models have diamond-set flanges. The other three are Joaillerie versions with amethyst, tsavorite, or blue topaz hour markers. The roundup lists USD 37,510 for the three standard models and USD 68,768 for the Joaillerie versions; these are source-reported prices, not independently verified current retail prices.
Why the G-Shock MRG-D5000 Blue Sapphire stands out
The MRG-D5000 takes the familiar square G-Shock form in a markedly different direction from Patek’s hand-wound platinum complication. The roundup describes it as a 20-piece MR-G 30th-anniversary edition, priced at USD 80,000. Its defining feature is a multi-component blue-sapphire exterior around a DLC-coated Grade 5 titanium inner case.

According to the report, the sapphire components form a multi-guard, shock-resistant structure that interlocks without screw holes in the sapphire case. That combination of material and construction is the key distinction: sapphire is used as part of the protective exterior, rather than merely as a conventional watch crystal.

Reported movement, functions and dimensions
The roundup lists Module 3584, a Gallium Tough Solar quartz movement with Multi Band 6 radio control. Reported functions include world time, a stopwatch, countdown timer, five daily alarms, date and day, and an LED backlight. Case dimensions are 51.3 × 43.2 × 16.5 mm, with 20 bar water resistance and a Dura Soft rubber strap.
The Patek and G-Shock are not direct alternatives: one is a limited mechanical complication, the other a highly specified solar-and-radio-controlled digital watch with an unusual sapphire exterior. Their reported edition sizes and prices—120 pieces and USD 80,000 for the MRG-D5000, respectively—underline how different the two launches are.

The Patek and G-Shock releases dominate the roundup for opposite reasons: Patek centers traditional mechanical complexity and precious metal, while G-Shock emphasizes shock-resistant construction, solar power, radio timekeeping, and a sapphire exterior. The remaining launches broaden the picture, from Louis Vuitton’s ceramic reinterpretation to NORQAIN’s titanium skeletons and the more conventional chronographs from Raymond Weil and Hanhart.
