The Laventure Sous-Marine pairs a conventional 200 m water-resistance specification and a 120-click unidirectional bezel with unusually expressive details: a domed sapphire “Superdome,” a layered sandwich dial and, in one version, a CuSn8 bronze case. Fratello reviewer Rob Nudds praised its design, finishing and wrist balance after wearing and snorkeling with his example. Its appeal is character rather than technical movement novelty: it uses an ETA 2824-2, and Nudds personally considered the Omega Seamaster 300M’s movement technically superior.
What the Laventure Sous-Marine is
The Sous-Marine is Laventure’s original dive-watch model. Laventure’s official listing describes a 41 mm case, 10.2 mm thickness without the crystal, a screwed crown and 200 m water resistance. The domed sapphire crystal adds height: Fratello measured its reviewed example at about 12 mm thick including the crystal and 48 mm lug-to-lug. These measurements refer to different dimensions and should not be conflated.
The official product page describes the steel/blue variant, while Fratello’s hands-on review concerns a black-dial example in CuSn8 bronze. Their case and dial details therefore do not describe one identical configuration. Laventure’s official Sous-Marine listing is currently marked sold out.
Design and materials
The crystal and case
Laventure calls the domed sapphire crystal a “Superdome” and specifies internal anti-reflective coating. The official listing describes a mix of polished, satin and micro-blasted case finishing, plus a solid steel caseback. The bronze version reviewed by Fratello brings a warmer, more individual look than the listed steel/blue configuration; the sources do not establish how any particular pre-owned bronze example has aged.

The sandwich dial
The official listing describes a two-plate dial: a brushed, lacquered upper plate is cut away above luminous material, creating the sandwich construction. Gold-colored hands and markings complete the listed steel/blue version. Nudds praised the reviewed watch’s visual coherence and described it as “41mm of pure harmony.” That is his design judgment, not a measured performance claim.
Bezel and practical dive-watch details
The watch has a 120-click unidirectional bezel intended for tracking dive time, along with the screwed crown and stated 200 m water resistance. Those specifications make it recognizably equipped as a dive watch, but they do not establish the condition of a particular used watch or certify its seals today.

Movement and specifications
Laventure specifies a Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement in top grade, adjusted in five positions, with 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and a stated 38-hour power reserve.

Nudds compared the watch with the Omega Seamaster 300M and said he viewed the Omega’s movement as technically superior, while preferring the Laventure for its character. That is one reviewer’s personal comparison, not the result of a controlled side-by-side test. The available material does not support a broader claim that one watch is objectively better.

How it wears and what the reviewer found
Fratello’s Rob Nudds reported that the watch felt balanced on his wrist and praised its finishing and design. He also says he took his example snorkeling and that it performed well. This is useful firsthand wear reporting, but it is not a laboratory test or assurance about the water resistance of another watch, especially a pre-owned one.
His reservations were specific: he would have preferred a bronze buckle to the stainless-steel buckle on his bronze-cased watch, and he objected to a crown position he considered non-functional. These are personal criticisms, not indications that every owner will share the same preferences.

Strap options and fit
Laventure lists calf leather and black FKM rubber options, with S, M and L sizes for wrist circumferences of 14–16 cm, 16–19 cm and 19–22 cm. The official package description includes a strap-changing tool, user manual and a two-year warranty certificate.
Nudds says the rubber strap can be cut to fit and recommends wearing it for several days before cutting. He cut his too soon and needed another strap; treat that as a practical lesson from his experience rather than a stated manufacturer rule.

Production, availability and historical price
Fratello reported that the original collection comprised six variants, each limited to 50 pieces, and that they had sold out. A 2018 launch report from Dive into Watches described 300 watches in total, consistent with six variants of 50; that is the publication’s reported production figure, not independently audited data. Laventure’s currently listed steel/blue original variant is marked sold out, and these sources do not establish current resale inventory.
Dive into Watches reported 2018 launch prices of CHF 2,350 before VAT for steel and CHF 300 more for bronze, or CHF 2,650 before VAT. These are historical launch prices, not current asking prices or valuation guidance.
Is the Laventure Sous-Marine worth considering?
The case for the Sous-Marine is its distinctive design and execution: the domed crystal, layered dial, carefully described case finishing and bronze option give it a stronger visual identity than its movement specification alone would suggest. Nudds wrote, “A watch of character, of personality, of quality, however, really lasts.” That sums up his preference, not a guarantee of value or a consensus verdict.
The tradeoff is straightforward. Buyers prioritizing a more technically ambitious movement may find the ETA 2824-2 less compelling, as Nudds did in comparison with the Omega Seamaster 300M. Those drawn to the Sous-Marine’s proportions, materials and design may judge those qualities more important. With the original listing sold out, any purchase decision also depends on the condition, price and provenance of the specific watch available to you—details not established by the cited launch and review sources.
