This guide uses LIP reference 671664, a quartz chronograph with a RONDA 5021 movement. LIP describes the watch as a recreation of the Mach 2000 design created in 1975 by designer Roger Tallon. Historical mechanical Mach 2000 watches may have different movements and controls, so do not assume their operating instructions apply to this quartz model. What do the hands and small dials mean?
On reference 671664, the central hour and minute hands show the time. The small seconds at 3 o’clock is the continuously running seconds display. The chronograph uses a separate central stop-second hand to show elapsed seconds and a 30-minute elapsed-time counter at 9 o’clock. In other words, the small seconds is not the stopwatch seconds hand.

How do you use the chronograph pushers?
RONDA’s operating instructions label the chronograph controls A and B: A starts and stops timing, and B returns the chronograph hands to zero. Identify the controls using the A/B diagram in the RONDA 5021.D and 5030.D user manual and compare it with your specific watch. LIP notes three colored push buttons on its product page but does not map colors to functions; do not rely on color alone.
- Start: Press pusher A. The central stop-second hand begins moving to indicate elapsed seconds.
- Stop and read: Press A again. Read elapsed seconds from the central chronograph hand and elapsed minutes from the counter at 9 o’clock.
- Reset: Once timing is stopped, press B to return the chronograph hands to zero.
What are ADD and SPLIT timing?
ADD: accumulate separate intervals
ADD timing lets you measure separate intervals and accumulate them into a total. It is useful when the event being timed pauses between intervals. LIP lists ADD capability for this chronograph, and RONDA provides the movement’s operating sequence in its manual.

SPLIT: read an intermediate time
SPLIT timing lets you take an intermediate reading while timing continues, such as recording a lap or checkpoint without ending the overall measurement. LIP lists SPLIT capability; use the manual’s button sequence for the 5021.D rather than assuming the basic start-stop-reset sequence covers these modes.
What should you check before buying a strap or battery?
Use the complete reference and movement number when checking accessories or service parts. LIP lists a 20 mm lug width for reference 671664, but that measurement should not be generalized to every Mach 2000. RONDA lists battery 395 as standard for caliber 5021.D; LIP’s listings show that battery details can vary among product references. Confirm compatibility for your exact watch before ordering.
