It pairs that mechanical idea with a restrained dial and a relatively compact 40.5 mm case. The design and finishing impressed Fratello reviewer Jorg Weppelink, though he found the crown small to use and questioned whether the watch had enough wrist presence. Price is the key complication: Fratello reported different prices for its reviewed strap and bracelet versions in March 2025 than the €6,600 currently displayed on Löbner’s Sledge Black product page.
What is the Löbner Sledge?
The Sledge is a three-hand automatic watch whose main point of difference is its INNER CIRCLE LOCK timing system. The external bezel turns an internal 60-minute scale, so the timing markings sit beneath the crystal rather than on a conventional rotating outer insert. Löbner says the scale can be adjusted without operating the crown. A second signature is the sliding cover over the crown, which gives the watch its name and protects the control when not in use.
Fratello’s March 23, 2025 hands-on review covers a black-dial example on rubber and a silver-dial version on a steel bracelet. The review describes the Sledge’s case as lugless and tonneau-shaped, with a sapphire crystal. Its impressions of fit, operation, and finishing are one reviewer’s observations after wearing the watches for a couple of days, not laboratory findings.
How the bezel and crown cover work
Internal timing scale
Rather than turning an exposed timing bezel, the wearer rotates the external bezel to move a 60-minute scale inside the watch. This gives the Sledge a cleaner outline while preserving a familiar elapsed-time function. The official description says the scale can be set without using the crown; the product information does not explain the mechanism in further detail.

Sliding crown protection
The crown sits beneath a sliding cover, an unusual case feature that is central to the Sledge’s identity. Weppelink found the cover distinctive and satisfying to operate, but said the crown itself felt relatively small when setting or winding the watch. That is a practical trade-off: the protection adds character and shielding, while access to the control is less immediate than on an uncovered-crown design.

The official page identifies the movement as caliber LÖBNER 6717 and describes it as Swiss automatic. Fratello reports that the caliber is based on a La Joux-Perret movement, and that Löbner assembles and regulates its calibers in Glashütte and produces cases in Pforzheim. Those details come from the review, rather than the product specification table above.
Design, wear, and reviewer impressions
Weppelink praised the dial design, finishing, and construction of the two watches he handled. He also found the 40.5 mm case less assertive on the wrist than its unusual shape might suggest, and questioned its wrist presence. These are useful fit impressions, but wrist size and preference matter: a compact diameter and lugless, tonneau-shaped case can wear differently from a conventional round watch of the same stated width.

The black-on-rubber and silver-on-steel combinations give prospective buyers distinct looks and wearing experiences. Fratello’s review does not establish a universal preference between them, and its comfort observations should not be treated as a fit guarantee. If possible, try the exact dial and attachment you intend to buy, paying particular attention to how the case sits and whether the covered crown is comfortable to operate.
Price and what to verify before buying
There is no single price in the cited material that can safely be applied to every Sledge. Fratello’s March 2025 review reported €8,600 for the rubber-strap version and €9,600 for the bracelet version. Löbner’s Sledge Black product page displays €6,600. The sources do not establish why the figures differ or whether they refer to identical references, so confirm the current price for the exact model and seller before making a decision.

The Sledge makes most sense for someone who values a distinctive case mechanism and an unconventional take on a timing bezel, and who is comfortable with the price attached to the exact version being offered. Its strongest case is its combination of a sliding crown protector, internally rotating scale, and restrained three-hand layout. The main cautions from the available hands-on review are the small crown and the possibility that the case will feel less prominent on the wrist than expected. Because the reported prices and current product-page display do not align, value is best judged only after confirming the exact reference and current offer.
