The Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium, reference L2.816.1.93.2, is listed by Longines at $4,400 in the US. It pairs a 41 mm titanium case with a petroleum-blue automatic chronograph dial and leather strap. Its appeal is a distinctive vintage-pilot layout in a lighter-colored, modern case material; the main practical caveat is its 3-bar water-resistance rating, which is not suited to swimming.
What is the Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium?
This is the titanium, petroleum-dial version of Longines’ Avigation BigEye chronograph. The exact reference is L2.816.1.93.2, a useful distinction when comparing it with the steel BigEye or other Avigation models. Longines lists a 41 mm case, automatic movement, chronograph function and leather strap on its US product page.

The design uses a vintage-style pilot-chronograph arrangement: an oversized 30-minute counter is joined by a 12-hour counter and running seconds, with no date window. Longines calls the dial petroleum; Monochrome Watches’ March 29, 2021 hands-on review describes it as petrol blue with a gradient. Monochrome frames the titanium and blue-dial edition as a sportier, more modern interpretation of the steel version, and says the design draws inspiration from an elusive 1930s watch. It also notes that the BigEye was reissued in steel in 2017; those historical characterizations are the publication’s account, rather than an independently verified archival history. What the specifications mean for a buyer
Case material and size
Titanium is the defining material change from the steel BigEye, while the 41 mm diameter keeps the watch in a substantial chronograph format. The available specifications establish the material and dimensions, but do not establish a measured weight or how the watch will feel on a particular wrist. Buyers who need to assess fit should try the exact watch in person if possible.

- Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism

Dial layout
The prominent 30-minute register gives the dial its recognizable BigEye emphasis, while the 12-hour and running-seconds counters complete the chronograph display. There is no date window to interrupt the arrangement. The petroleum color and gradient description distinguish this version visually from the steel edition, but the precise appearance can vary with lighting.
Water resistance
Longines lists 3 bar water resistance. Treat that as a low water-resistance rating, not a promise that the watch is appropriate for swimming or water sports. For regular water exposure, choose a watch with a rating suited to that use and follow Longines’ care guidance.

Power reserve and movement frequency
The current US product page states a reserve of up to 66 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. “Up to” matters: it is the manufacturer’s stated maximum, not an independently measured result or a guarantee of identical runtime in every condition.
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want the BigEye’s instrument-like chronograph layout, prefer titanium to steel, and value the petroleum-blue dial and leather-strap configuration.
- Look elsewhere if swimming or frequent water exposure is a priority, you need a date display, or you want a smaller case than 41 mm.
- Compare it with the steel BigEye if material and dial color are the deciding factors. The titanium edition retains the family’s core design while changing those elements, according to Monochrome’s 2021 review. Confirm the current price and specifications of any alternative on its own manufacturer listing.
Buying checks
- Confirm that the watch is reference L2.816.1.93.2, not another Avigation BigEye variant.
- Check the official Longines page for your market and confirm the current price, specifications and warranty terms.
- For a non-Longines seller, verify the seller’s status, condition of the watch, included warranty, stock and final price directly before purchase.
No current secondary-market range, Amazon inventory, seller status or street discount is established here, so the official regional prices are the reliable price references available.
