The Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium is reference L2.816.1.93.2: a 41 mm titanium automatic chronograph with a shaded “Petroleum” dial, leather strap and a prominent 30-minute counter. Longines currently lists up to 66 hours of power reserve and 3-bar water resistance. The “hands-on” label is omitted here because available sources establish specifications and launch coverage, not a personal examination of the watch.
What is the Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium?
This is the titanium version of Longines’ Avigation BigEye, reference L2.816.1.93.2. The manufacturer lists a 41 mm titanium case, automatic chronograph movement, leather strap and buckle, and a dial it calls “Petroleum.” Its current specification page also lists a sapphire crystal with several anti-reflective coating layers on the underside. Longines’ product listing is the source for the current model specifications.

The watch takes its character from the contrast between the blue-green dial and the large chronograph minute register. Launch coverage describes a grain-textured, gradient dial and vintage-style cream-colored luminous numerals, details that give the titanium case a more traditional aviation-watch appearance. Jura Watches’ 2021 launch coverage describes the dial and light-brown calfskin strap.
What does the BigEye counter do?
“BigEye” refers to the oversized 30-minute chronograph counter, a feature that visually dominates the dial. Launch coverage describes the layout as including small seconds, a central chronograph seconds hand, a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter. The large minute register is the design’s defining cue, not a separate time display. Oracle Time’s 2021 report outlines the chronograph layout.

Movement and power reserve: why the figures differ
Longines’ current product page describes a self-winding chronograph movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of up to 66 hours. That is the current manufacturer-listed figure. Longines’ specification does not identify a caliber number in the listing reviewed here.
Two 2021 launch reports give a 54-hour reserve and identify the movement at that time as the L688; Fratello discusses the L688.2. Those are launch-era descriptions, not a substitute for the current official figure. The available information does not establish why the listed reserve differs or whether the movement designation changed, so it is best not to infer a revision. Fratello’s 2021 article reports its dimensions and launch-era movement details; Jura’s 2021 coverage also reports 54 hours.

Case, wearing dimensions and water resistance
The official case diameter is 41 mm. Fratello’s launch article reports a 50 mm lug-to-lug span and approximately 14.5 mm thickness; these are reported measurements from that article rather than dimensions surfaced in the current Longines specification text. Wrist fit therefore depends on more than diameter, especially if lug reach or overall thickness is a concern.
Longines rates the watch to 3 bar. That is the manufacturer’s water-resistance rating; the listing does not establish suitability for swimming or diving, so the rating should not be turned into a recreational-use recommendation. The same official page specifies a leather strap and buckle, but does not state a strap color in the product-page text reviewed.

What is known about the BigEye’s historical inspiration?
Longines places the Avigation BigEye among its aviation-associated heritage models. Independent 2021 coverage says the design was inspired by a 1930s chronograph brought to the Longines Museum by a collector. Those accounts also report that Longines had no records of making that particular watch. Its precise origin and status are therefore uncertain: the cited accounts leave open whether it was a prototype, custom piece or something else. It should not be described as a confirmed Longines production model or documented military-issue watch. Oracle Time and Fratello discuss the inspiration and provenance caveat.

Longines’ product page showed CHF 3,600 on its Swiss listing and $4,400 on its US listing when accessed in 2026. These are regional displayed prices, not a universal price, and can change. The €3,230 reported by Fratello and £2,970 reported by Jura were launch-era figures from 2021, not current prices. Check the relevant Longines regional page or retailer for a live local price.
