Its 35 mm case and period cues make it a focused tribute; its automatic L633 movement is a modern, ETA 2824/2-based choice rather than a return to the earlier Conquest calibres. The steel edition was reference L1.611.4.70.4, limited to 600 numbered watches.
What “1954-2014” commemorates
The date range marks the 60th anniversary of the filing of the Conquest brand patent—not 60 years of continuous production for this specific watch. Longines’ 18 March 2014 launch release says the commemorative watch was based directly on the first Conquest models and was offered in steel, yellow gold, and rose gold as numbered limited editions. Longines also retained the gold-and-enamel caseback medallion, which it described as its “gold seal of Longines quality.” Longines’ 2014 launch announcement

Longines’ 2024 historical retrospective independently identifies L1.611.6.70.4 as a 2014, 35 mm reference and describes the reissue as four numbered versions. The edition quantities above come from contemporary reporting, not current stock figures. Longines’ 2024 Conquest retrospective · Hodinkee’s 2014 hands-on coverage
Size and design: a deliberate vintage-scale watch
The anniversary edition’s 35 mm diameter is central to its character: it echoes the original Conquest’s scale rather than chasing the larger proportions common in many modern watches. Hodinkee’s reviewer described the watch as thin and light on the wrist and noted how unusual 35 mm felt for a contemporary men’s watch at the time. Those are that reviewer’s impressions, not a claim about how every wearer will experience it.

The caseback medallion provides another direct historical connection. Longines’ launch material says the gold-and-enamel seal was retained on the anniversary models. The available documentation does not establish every dial, finish, or strap configuration across all four references, so those details should be checked against the specific watch being considered.
The movement: modern mechanics, not a restored original calibre
The 2014 Conquest Heritage is automatic, but its movement is not one of the earlier Conquest calibres. Longines’ 2024 retrospective identifies calibre 633.5 in the yellow-gold reference L1.611.6.70.4. Contemporary watch coverage refers to the movement as L633 and identifies it as based on the ETA 2824/2. Longines’ Baselworld 2014 release describes the rose-gold model as having a mechanical L633 with hours, minutes, and seconds. The period sources use both L633 and 633.5 nomenclature; the 633.5 suffix is specifically documented for L1.611.6.70.4, and should not be assumed for every reference. That makes the movement the watch’s clearest historical compromise. Contemporary reviewers contrast the L633 with the 290/291-family Longines calibres and ASD19 found in earlier Conquest examples. The original line was automatic, so the change is not from manual winding to automatic; it is a change of movement generation. The 2014 release should not be described as using an in-house movement.
How it differs from later Conquest Heritage watches
“Conquest Heritage” is also used for later Longines models. Longines’ current collection page lists later Heritage variants in 38 mm and 40 mm sizes; those are separate models, not evidence for the dimensions or specifications of the numbered 2014 anniversary edition. Compare the reference number and the exact model year when reading listings. Longines’ current Conquest Heritage collection

What to verify when considering one today
The documented edition sizes establish how the watches were issued, not whether a particular example is available, authentic, well-preserved, or fairly priced now. No current resale-price survey or live-stock check establishes a present-day market value for L1.611.4.70.4. Before buying any listing, check the reference against the watch itself and ask for clear evidence of its serial and edition numbering. Also assess condition, provenance, any claimed box and papers, and the seller’s reputation. Service availability and cost should be confirmed directly with Longines or a qualified watchmaker; the launch-era sources do not establish current service terms.
