The Longines Conquest V.H.P. GMT Flash Setting is a quartz travel watch with a second time zone and an unusual way to set its time: it receives setting data through light pulses from a smartphone, not Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. What is the Conquest V.H.P. GMT Flash Setting?
Longines introduced the watch in September 2018 as part of its Conquest V.H.P. (“Very High Precision”) quartz family, targeting frequent travelers. It is a conventional watch, not a smartwatch: its phone interaction is for transferring time-setting data, rather than providing connected features. The defining feature is Flash Setting. A compatible smartphone emits light pulses that convey setting data to the watch. Longines says the process requires no external connection such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. That optical transfer is distinct from changing time zones manually. Longines’ 9 September 2018 release states: “This innovative function requires no external connection, such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.”
How does Flash Setting work, and can you set it without Bluetooth?
Yes. Flash Setting communicates through smartphone light pulses, so it does not rely on a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi link. Longines also says the wearer can change time zones manually. The method is useful in principle for transferring time data without pairing the watch to a phone over a wireless connection, but it still depends on having a working, compatible app and phone.

Longines has an official VHP GMT Manual page. The page available here confirms the manual exists, but does not provide a verified button-by-button setting sequence. Consult the manual for your exact reference rather than guessing at crown or button operations.
An Apple App Store listing identifies Compagnie des Montres Longines Francillon SA as the developer and lists the iPhone utility with an iOS 9.3-or-later requirement. That is the minimum shown on the storefront listing reviewed, not confirmation that the app will run on every current device or in every region. Check the Longines app listing and your local storefront before relying on Flash Setting. Current Android availability and compatibility with present-day operating systems are not established here.

What does V.H.P. mean for accuracy and recovery?
The GPHG record associates the V.H.P. GMT line with a precision claim of ±5 seconds per year. It is a manufacturer-related published figure, not a guarantee of the performance of a particular older watch; the record gives no publication year, and no independent timing test is available here.
Longines’ 2017 collection release says V.H.P. watches have an in-built system intended to resynchronise the hands after exposure to a shock or magnetic field. This is a maker-stated recovery feature, not a measured guarantee for an individual GMT watch.
