The review lists a brown strap with the silver dial and black or blue straps matched to the corresponding dial colors. It presents the leather option as a more adaptable, elegant take on the collection—not as a technical improvement or a result of comparative testing.
Which Conquest V.H.P. leather-strap versions does the review describe?
Andrew McUtchen’s Time+Tide article, published on 23 March 2020, describes 41 mm and 43 mm versions with silver, black or blue dials on leather straps. The combinations it names are:
- Silver dial with a brown strap
- Black dial with a black strap
- Blue dial with a blue strap
The review says the leather configuration broadens the watch’s styling and gives it a more elegant character. That is the article’s aesthetic assessment, not an objective finding about comfort, durability or performance. Read the Time+Tide collection review.
What does V.H.P. mean for the watch’s operation?
Longines introduced the Conquest V.H.P. as a high-precision quartz collection. In its 9 March 2017 announcement, the company described a system that resynchronizes the hands after exposure to a shock or magnetic field. This is manufacturer-described functionality; the announcement’s language is not an independent test of a particular leather-strap version. Longines’ launch announcement.

What should owners know about setting an L288 model?
The official L288 manual gives model-specific operating guidance. Check the manual for the exact reference in hand before applying these instructions to another V.H.P. model.
Time and date adjustment
The L288 is delivered in energy-saving mode. Its manual explains crown settings for the time and date; rapid crown turns move the hour hand in one-hour increments, and moving the time across midnight changes the date. Date correction is limited to plus or minus one day to protect the perpetual calendar. Consult the official L288 manual.

Low-battery indication
On the L288, the seconds hand begins jumping in five-second intervals as the battery approaches the end of its life. After approximately six months in that state, the hands stop at 12 o’clock. If battery replacement is delayed beyond that point, the manual says an approved watchmaker must program the perpetual calendar. These instructions apply to the L288 manual, not automatically to every V.H.P. reference.

The 2020 article also mentions a Commonwealth Games Edition and a separate GMT review. Those references are not additional leather-strap combinations in the configurations listed above. The launch material and L288 manual provide technical context, but do not establish that every V.H.P. variant shares the L288’s operating details.

The review is a historical account of the collection’s leather configurations. It does not establish whether those watches remain in production, whether any are currently in stock at the Sydney QVB boutique, or what they cost today. Nor does the source set verify strap dimensions or a replacement-strap part number; owners should confirm the exact reference and fit before buying a replacement.
