What the 60th Anniversary edition commemorates
Longines introduced the Flagship collection in 1957. For its 60th anniversary, the brand announced a Heritage edition in 2017, saying it was inspired by a Flagship model held at the company’s headquarters. The watch also preserves the collection’s nautical emblem: a flagship motif appears on the caseback, echoing original pieces. Longines’ 2017 announcement frames the model as a historical tribute rather than a new interpretation of the collection’s purpose.

These specifications come from the technical sheet reproduced in Fratello’s 2017 coverage. The 3 bar rating is a stated specification, not a recommendation for swimming or water sports.
Dial and caseback: restrained design, nautical detail
The dial’s layout is deliberately spare: four Arabic numerals and eight applied hour indices mark the hours, while the hands indicate time without a date aperture interrupting the face. The technical description identifies two dial zones and a brushed silver finish. Dauphine hands provide the main contrast, with luminous material on the hour and minute hands.

On the reverse, a relief caravel or flagship emblem supplies the model’s most explicit historical cue. Longines says the emblem continues a feature found on original Flagship watches. The combination makes the front a conventional dress-watch display and the caseback the place where the collection’s maritime name becomes visible.

The edition limits and variant details are reported in the Fratello-reproduced technical information. The steel model has the largest stated production run; the gold versions are much scarcer by edition limit. These figures describe the announced limits, not verified surviving stock or present-day availability.

What contemporary reviewers said—and what that does not prove
In a January 2017 launch article, Hodinkee’s Jack Forster praised the no-date layout and 38.5 mm diameter, writing that the size would fit “right into the sweet spot for many of us” while avoiding an unnecessarily large look. That is Forster’s aesthetic judgment, not a universal fit assessment or a measured wearer result. Read Forster’s Hodinkee article.
Horobox’s 2017 review likewise describes a polished 38.5 mm case, silver-tone dial, contrasting gold-plated details and a relief caravel caseback. The movement’s underlying ETA designation is not consistent across secondary descriptions: Fratello’s reproduced sheet specifies ETA 2895/2, while Horobox identifies ETA 2892. The clear model designation to rely on is Longines calibre L609; the conflicting base-calibre attributions should not be treated as settled here.

Is the Longines Flagship Heritage 60th Anniversary still available?
Current stock and pricing are not established by the cited 2017 materials. The edition limits tell you how many examples were originally designated, not whether a watch is currently offered by Longines or a particular seller. If considering a listing, check that it is the exact reference you want, and verify the seller, condition, completeness and current availability directly. Hodinkee’s January 2017 report that pricing had not yet been announced describes that launch moment only; it says nothing about today’s market price.
