The Longines Heritage Skin Diver pairs the look of a 1959 dive watch with a modern 300 m rating, but its 42 mm case and long lugs give it a substantial wrist presence. Reviewers disagree on how comfortably it wears: one found it large on a seven-inch wrist, while another found it comfortable and not head-heavy. If fit is your priority, try it on rather than judging by diameter alone.
What the Heritage Skin Diver revives
Longines’s modern Heritage Skin Diver draws on the 1959 Nautilus Skin Divers’ Watch T910, reference 6921. Fratello describes that original as Longines’s first dive watch; SJX reports it was produced for a few years before the dual-crown reference 7042, which became the basis for the modern Legend Diver. Those historical details are reported by the publications, rather than independently verified archival findings here.

The modern model preserves the vintage watch’s general case shape and black-dial dive-watch character, while enlarging the case. The reviews describe the original as 40 mm and the modern version as 42 mm. The vintage watch used a Bakelite bezel, while the modern one substitutes a black-coated steel unidirectional bezel, with a luminous triangle. SJX also notes the grained black dial and faux-aged lume.
SJX’s 2018 hands-on account and Fratello’s 2019 review discuss the model’s historical and design context.

How big does it wear?
The headline size is 42 mm, but the case geometry matters as much as the diameter. In his Baselworld try-on, Hodinkee’s Jon Bues measured 52.55 mm lug-to-lug and 13.75 mm thick, and said the watch felt large on his seven-inch wrist. SJX likewise says the wide, long trapezoidal lugs make it wear larger than the diameter suggests.
Fratello reviewer Balazs Ferenczi gives a more positive fit impression, describing it as comfortable and not head-heavy. These are different reviewers’ experiences, not a universal fit verdict. Wrist shape and personal preference vary; the long lugs are a reason to try the watch on if possible. See Hodinkee’s 2018 Baselworld try-on for Bues’s measurements and impression.

Water resistance and movement
The review coverage gives the modern watch a 300 m / 30 bar water-resistance rating, with a screw-down crown noted by Hodinkee and a screw-down caseback described by Fratello. SJX contrasts the modern rating with 150 m for the original Nautilus Skin Diver. A rating is a specification, not proof of the present condition of a particular pre-owned watch: seals, service history and pressure testing matter when assessing an individual example.
The articles identify the automatic movement as either L888 or L888.2. Their stated power reserves differ slightly:

| SJX, 2018 | L888.2 | 64 hours | — |
These are specifications reported in launch-era coverage, not a current official specification confirmation. The sources do not resolve the one-hour reserve discrepancy, so confirm the exact movement and specification for the reference you are considering if that detail matters.
Strap options and replacement checks
Launch coverage describes three configurations: black tropic-style rubber, brown leather, and a stainless-steel Milanese or mesh bracelet. Fratello observed that the rubber strap can attract lint and that leather is not appropriate for underwater use. These are reviewer observations, not a comparative strap test.

The reviewed articles do not establish a lug width or current availability of original equipment straps. Before ordering a replacement, verify compatibility against the exact watch reference and fitting dimensions; a strap that looks right in a listing may not fit your particular case.

Who should consider it?
The Heritage Skin Diver suits someone drawn to the compact visual cues of a vintage dive watch but who wants a modern steel bezel and a reported 300 m rating. The main fit question is whether its 42 mm case and extended lugs work on your wrist. When comparing it with another diver, check case diameter, lug-to-lug length, thickness and lug shape, then weigh vintage styling against modern materials, the individual watch’s condition, movement version and reserve, strap fit, and current local price and service options. The reviewed articles do not provide a direct competitor comparison.
For a used example, inspect its condition and service documentation rather than treating the model’s original water-resistance specification as a guarantee of current performance. For a replacement strap, confirm the exact reference and dimensions before buying.
