It has a larger 38.5 mm stainless-steel case and an automatic movement, whereas the historical watch is described as smaller and manually wound. How it wears and what the review evidence supports
The 38.5 mm diameter gives the watch a relatively restrained footprint by modern sport-watch standards, while the beige dial, Arabic numerals, and brown-toned luminous treatment carry the vintage military character. Diameter alone does not establish how it will fit: compare case thickness and lug-to-lug length where available, and try it on if fit is important to you.

Is the Marine Nationale a dive watch?
No. The historical inspiration is associated with shallow-diving missions, but launch-era coverage gives the modern watch a water-resistance rating of 30 m. Do not infer diving suitability from the name or heritage story. Anyone who needs a watch for swimming or diving should choose a model with a rating and use guidance appropriate to that activity, rather than relying on this watch’s military styling.
