The hands-on observations below come from Robert-Jan Broer’s 2018 review, not from independent testing or personal wear.
What makes this black Legend Diver distinctive?
The watch keeps the Legend Diver’s two-crown, internal-bezel layout but gives its 42 mm case a black PVD coating. The inner diving flange is operated with a crown rather than an exposed external bezel. Longines explains the design this way: “Invented by Longines, the position of the bezel inside the case protects it from accidental manipulation and shocks that could alter its settings.” Longines

What the 2018 hands-on review observed
In his June 27, 2018 Fratello review, Robert-Jan Broer described a super-compressor-style case with black PVD coating over steel, a rubber strap with a mesh motif, and a titanium folding clasp. These are his observations of the watch discussed in that review. Fratello, June 27, 2018

Broer noted that the inner bezel’s 60-minute scale can initially blend visually with the central dial; the layering becomes clearer on closer inspection. He also described vintage-toned markers and lume, with polished silver-colored hands providing contrast. These visual impressions complement, but are distinct from, Longines’ current specification wording.
Why the reserve figures differ
Broer’s 2018 review identifies an L888.2 movement and gives a 64-hour reserve for the version he discusses. Longines’ 2021 sheet lists caliber L888 with approximately 72 hours, and the current official US product page states up to 72 hours at 25,200 vibrations per hour. Fit and strap considerations
The documented 22 mm lug distance is a useful starting point when looking at replacement straps, but it does not guarantee that every strap or clasp of that width will fit. Check the spring-bar arrangement, clearance at the lugs, strap dimensions, and clasp compatibility with Longines or the strap maker before ordering.
Broer mentioned olive or anthracite NATO straps as styles he would consider. That is a styling suggestion, not a confirmed compatibility recommendation for this reference. Fratello (2018)
