For the specific titanium, grey-dial reference 227.90.55.21.99.002, Omega lists a 55 x 48 mm case, 18.26 mm thickness and approximate 169 g total product weight. Those figures make the Ploprof’s scale clear, but they cannot tell you how it will fit or feel on your wrist. This is a specification-led review, not a report of personal wear or diving tests.
What is the Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200M?
The Ploprof is a purpose-built member of Omega’s Seamaster family. Its defining feature is not subtlety but a large case and a high maker-rated water-resistance specification. This review focuses on reference 227.90.55.21.99.002: Omega Japan identifies it as a titanium model with a grey dial and orange ceramic bezel, and marks this reference discontinued. The Ploprof range includes other configurations; for example, reference 227.90.55.21.01.001 has a black ceramic bezel. Dial, bezel, materials and availability should therefore be checked against the exact reference rather than assumed from the model name alone.
Omega Japan’s product page for reference 227.90.55.21.99.002 is the source for the specifications below. Omega’s Seamaster collection page provides broader collection context.

| Specification | Omega-listed figure for 227.90.55.21.99.002 |
|---|---|
| Case dimensions | 55 x 48 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 48.00 mm |
| Thickness | 18.26 mm |
| Total product weight | Approximately 169 g |
The 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement is useful alongside the stated 55 x 48 mm case dimensions, but it does not make this a small watch: at 18.26 mm thick, the case also has substantial height. Titanium may suggest a particularly light watch, yet Omega’s approximate total product weight is still 169 g for this specific configuration. That figure belongs to this reference and should not be applied to every Ploprof, whose materials and configurations vary.
Specifications cannot settle the practical fit question. Wrist shape, size, strap or bracelet configuration and personal preference all affect how a watch of these proportions sits and feels. Try the exact configuration on, if possible, and assess how the case and thickness work under sleeves and during ordinary movement. No firsthand fit, comfort, clasp or control-use assessment is claimed here.

- Omega Seamaster Automatic Black Dial Men's Watch 210.32.42.20.01.001
What does the 1200M rating mean?
Omega rates reference 227.90.55.21.99.002 to 120 bar (1,200 metres / 4,000 feet). This is the manufacturer’s stated water-resistance specification; it is not evidence of an independent test of this individual watch, nor a report of a dive performed with it. The rating signals a watch designed around serious underwater capability, but a specification alone does not establish suitability for a particular dive, the condition of a used example or its present water resistance.
For ownership decisions, distinguish the model’s published rating from the condition and service history of the specific watch being considered. Do not treat an old or second-hand example as ready for immersion solely because its reference was originally rated to 1,200 metres.

- Omega Seamaster Automatic Chronometer Black Dial Men's Watch 210.30.42.20.01.001
What movement does it use?
Omega lists the automatic calibre 8912 with a 60-hour power reserve for this reference. Omega’s movement description identifies it as a Co-Axial Master Chronometer and states magnetic resistance of at least 15,000 gauss. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not measurements made for this review.
Omega describes Master Chronometer certification as testing focused on chronometric precision, magnetic resistance, power reserve and water resistance. That description explains the scope of the certification; it does not amount to an independent test of the particular watch discussed here. Omega’s user manual for reference 215.92.46.21.01.001 is for a different reference, so it should not be mistaken for the manual for 227.90.55.21.99.002.

Is reference 227.90.55.21.99.002 discontinued?
Omega Japan marks this exact reference discontinued. That status applies to 227.90.55.21.99.002 on the cited product page; it does not establish that every Ploprof is discontinued, or that no examples of this reference remain available through resale. No current listing or price is established here. Anyone shopping should verify the reference number, condition, seller, included components and any claims about service or water resistance against the individual listing.
Who should consider the Ploprof?
The Ploprof is most compelling for someone who actively wants its unusually large, technical dive-watch presence and values a high published water-resistance rating, titanium construction and Omega’s stated movement specifications. It is a harder recommendation for a buyer seeking an unobtrusive, broadly versatile everyday watch: the listed dimensions and weight make the scale impossible to ignore, while personal comfort cannot be inferred from the spec sheet.
Recommended Free Tools
Before choosing one, use the exact reference as your checklist. Confirm the case and bezel materials, dial, bracelet or strap, and the condition of the individual watch. Try it on if fit is central to the decision, and treat the published water-resistance rating as a model specification rather than proof of a used watch’s present condition.
